It took me about a month and my first period was very light. Some women go as long as three months without a period after they have their baby. If you are breast feeding it can take a while before you have your period. I would wait another week or two and if still nothing call your dr and talk to them.

It is very possible to get pregnant that soon if you are not breastfeeding. While breastfeeding I didn't have a period for 13 months. My sis-in-law, who does not breastfeed, got pregnant one month after having her baby (ended up a miscarriage.) It can take plenty of time to get your period back but I think if you're not breastfeeding something like 4-10 weeks. I wouldn't suggest an at home pregnancy test as you might still have the pregnancy hormones the test looks for in your system. A blood test would be most accurate since it measures the level of the hormone. Make sure you go back for your 6 week and get tested then.

Well...are you nursing? Often nursing mothers won't get their period while they are nursing. And if they do, it's months and months before the first one comes.

If you're not nursing, then I still wouldn't expect that a normal period would come so soon. Especially after bleeding for a couple weeks...I wouldn't expect a period until the end of the following month. Hormones could still be out of whack a bit. It takes time for your body to get back into a regular routine.

As far as pregnancy goes...I always thought it was safer to resume sexual activity after the 6 week postpartum check up. Women who have just given birth, need that amount of time (sometimes a bit longer) for their bodies to recuperate from pregnancy and delivery. Not to mention how uncomfortable that would be right off. Then at the postpartum check up, they ask if you want some form of birth control so you can safely resume those sexual activities without the fear of getting pregnant again....so soon.

You should be having a post-partum check up sometime soon. If not, you should call and ask about one. Then talk to your doc about what to expect for the next couple of weeks.

Good Luck!! And congrats on your new one!

My youngest sister just had her baby like a year ago and she skipped like four months. After you have your first child, your period's usually wacky from then on out. I wouldn't sweat another child on the way too much, hah. When in doubt go get a pregnancy test. If you don't have one for 3 or 4 months, I'd go to a ob/gyn. Good luck! I hope that the outcome you want comes true.

Although it is possible to be pregnant again so soon after delivering if you are nursing your baby born last month you may not have a period for several months. If you are having symptoms of pregnancy do yourself a favor & get tested - forewarned is forearmed! And Best of Luck with your new family!

Obviously you've already had sex. I guess you could be, but I wouldn't worry yet. When you go for your post-OB, they'll tell you if you're pregnant. You usually don't get your period right away after having a baby. It usually takes about 6 weeks or longer if you are breastfeeding.

Its just a month. wait for some time, both for the periods and for another child. Your body will be too weak now and getting another child in your belly may only make you weak for eternity. you can not be as strong as you were with equal or more stamina. Your bones may weaken along with other parts of body, especially ovary, uterus, and digestive systems along with the kidney. You should wait for atleast an year before planning for another. If you are is too hungry out of starvation, take preventive measures. never take anti pregnency pills as it may be far more lethal to your just born than the new one in belly can be for you later. Even an abortion you do may affect your feeding harmones and may affect the health of your just born more than you can imagine.

My sincere advice is "haste makes waste". Do not be hasty.

It can take several months for your cycle to resume normal activity. Hormone levels, breastfeeding, coupled with new Mommy stress are important factors in determining when your menstrual cycle returns normally.

I will share this: I delivered my first child 02/05/97. I breastfed her. I went back for my post-partum check up, thinking everything was fine, but as it turned out, I was pregnant again! I delivered my second child 12/27/97! (Irish twins!)

If you're not looking to have another baby - play it safe and make sure you are protected.

Didn't your OB tell you that it most likely would not come back until 6 weeks pp? He/she also should have told you not to have sex until that time either. You are probably not pregnant but you really do need to let your body recover.
If you are breastfeeding it will take longer to get your period. Mine came back when my son was 10 months old.

ur period may not return for a while, dont worry so much. although it is best to use contraceptive since u never know when ur cycle will be back to normal.
by the way i took 6 monmths with my first child and 3 with the second!!!! and also u should wait at least 6 weeks to have sex since ur uterus is healing. i know this is hard but please do, sex may cause unnecessary harm to ur body during the healing process.
