I have been having pressure feeling in my chest, and it feels as though i can't take a deep breath. Doctor has done lung test and chest x-ray and nothing so he refered me to someone and i was given Zoloft. Has anyone taken this? My sister and mother both suffer from panic attacks and take clonopine, they have taken these and say they had a bad reaction. Any info on this as well as clonopine if you have taked both would be great. I am nervous to take it.

Thanks
Jenn

I have to tell you I'm getting really sick of doctors giving people, make that WOMEN, anti-depressants instead of actually diagnosing their medical problems. Zoloft is only a way to shut you up. If your emotions are chemically altered and you feel "fine" you won't be back in his office 'complaining' any more. A friend of mine had basically the same complaints you have and the doctor gave her Prozac and told her to quit stressing out. She actually had a disease of her heart muscle and very nearly died before she got the help she needed.

I'm not saying you have something severely wrong with you but make sure your doctor is giving you the medical attention you need and deserve. Don't start taking medication that has been given you without questioning what it is and how it will be used. You are your best health advocate. Educate yourself and don't take no for an answer.

I have been taking zoloft for about a year now, and I haven't had any kind of side effects at all. It can react differently to other people though, but I haven't found anything to complain about it. At first I only took 1/2 of a pill, and it really didn't work that much, so me and my doctor talked about it and we tried a whole pill, and now to the 2 pills, I have been taking those for about a month now and I can already feel a lot different, other than getting out of the house more with my current job, I feel more comfortable around people and more confidence. Zoloft isn't like prozac, it has much less side effects than most anti-deppresents. Just because you are taking an anti-deppresant, it doesn't have to mean that you are depressed. I wouldn't be to worried about taking it, to some people it may take a month or more to even feel any kind of positive effects on you since it is real mild, again, depending on how much they prescribed you. Hope this helps. Good luck.

You are nervous to take it because you are suffering from anxiety and panic attacks. Zoloft will either work or not. I just depends on what is causing your panic attacks. If you really think you will have a bad reaction talk to your dr about trying the other drug first. OR you can drive to the ER and sit outside in your car while you take the med - then if you have a reaction you will be right there.
Honestly I don't know anyone who has had any trouble with Zoloft. You may want to ask your Dr. to check you for Vaso -vegal syncop. That is what was causing my panic attacks and as soon as I took meds for that, the panic attacks went away.
Good Luck

i have taken zoloft. as with any meds your body may need time to adjust, the side effects usually subside after a few days, or a week or two. But we are all unique, so monitor Your reaction and keep in touch with your Dr.

I have do take klonopin currently for anxiety, which is what i am assuming you are saying your mom and sis take. again no adverse reactions. but everyone is different. If your family doesn't do well with a certain drug, it may not work well for you either. For instance, Aleve does nothing for me, doesn't touch my pain, doesn't work for my dad or sis either, and yet my husband swears by it. That same sister uses lunesta for a sleeping pill and it doesn't help me at all. weird how that works.

Question is the pain short or does it just sit there is it tight and really hurts if you have answerd sits there and it is tight you may want to consult a heart doctor, first befor taking Zoloft as this could give you a heart attack if ther is something wrong with you heart.
Please do not think this to be a prank you really need to check with them first just to make sure.
Stay safe stay healthy.

Everyone reacts differently to different medications, if you are already so nervous about taking Zoloft, I suggest you just call your doctor and tell them the full story, because chances are even if you don't have a physical reaction to the medication, you aren't going to even give it a chance due to your bias against it from your family... So just call them and have them put you on something else...

I was on 200 mg of zoloft for 3 years and I almost committed suicide!! My doctors had my on Zoloft for depression yet that wasnt what my problem was so it did nothing to me at all other than make me go crazy. I do not think that it should be prescribed to patients that they do not know their condition fully. I have bipolar depressive. So the zoloft counteracted with my condition and caused me to develop more serious mental conditions!! So i advise you to not take it!! Get on something else!!!! I would not recommend this at all. Ask your doctor if you can possibly get on Lexapro its only 10 mg and it is much more affective!!!

Your doctor prescribed an antidepressant for that!? I would have gone with an EKG, and a cardio doppler test. I strongly urge you to do the same thing. Good Luck to you.
