The middle east is not suffering from leprosy. India has the greatest number of leprosy cases, with Brazil second and Myanmar third. Brazil, Madagascar, Mozambique, Tanzania and Nepal are also amongst the sufferers of this disease . High prevalence continue in certain areas such as Brazil, South Asia (India, Nepal), some parts of Africa (Tanzania, Madagascar, Mozambique) and the western Pacific.
Currently England doesn't have many reported cases. Looking back on the early years, England had 250 leprosaria or leper hospitals that sprang up in the middle ages at around 1230 A.D.
Why United Kingdom doesn't suffer anymore? Well, the economic conditions, environmental factors, government supplies, education and cultural beliefs are just amongst the obvious factors that could explain the prevalence of the disease.
