Nope, anyways, certainly not more sad than people who go to the bar to look for mates.
Consider the following choices:
1) Meet someone online who shares the same interests
2) Meet someone in a bar who shares the same preference in alcoholic beverages

Not at all .. the internet is as viable a meeting place as pulling a random stranger in a club .. it has just been demonised as the harbour of all ill in the world ....
Obviously care for personal security needs to be considered but in the main this is as good a medium for getting yourself 'out into the world' as any other - better in some cases.

Yes, I guess some people do come here to look for mates... but you never know, it just may work in some cases...

well personally I wouldnt - but maybe the people that do have just reached an all time low on the dating scene and are willing to branch out anywhere they can to meet someone?
I must admit it does look kinda desperate when you read these questions describing yourself and what you hope to meet - but its always gona happen on here, so get used to it!
