i followed a similar path, first engineering degree then an mba. however, i spent a few years working with my first qualifications. in that way i could justify the mba as a career change. i understand that you haven't worked in physics so you have to find something else. maybe you can focus on the mba topics you chose to do and try to connect them with physics. for example if you are doing an mba in finance in order to work in the finance industry, you can say that the scientific mentality you have from your first degree is a very useful complement for the finance qualifications. also you can say that managerial skills are complementary to your other skills for physics (attention to detail, methodology and scientific approach in your work etc). and don't be afraid to say that you decided that you want to pursue a different career than the degree you studied, but that you are equipped with skills which are going to be useful. hope i helped a bit

Well, it is perfectly reasonable to get an MBA after your physics degree. Not everyone that gets an MBA is a business major in undergrad. You should explain that physics was an interest to you, but that business was the career you wanted to pursue. Having a science background with your MBA gives you a unique base and makes you a well rounded person overall.
