Everybody else has given you the info you requested but I must add my two cents worth. :-)
Chill the bowl and the beaters in the refrigerator for a while before pouring in the cream and whipping - works faster.
Use little or no sugar, since you normally are using whipped cream on something that is already sweet. I just use a 'touch' of natural vanilla, which I add to the cream before whipping.
Best you've ever had. I guarantee it. (Please save some for me, I'm drooling!)

Hi.Relax, it's all good. Not a stupid Q at all, what with all the diff labeling,...there's Heavy Cream, light cream, whipping cream,...actually, the heavy OR the whipping will work. Use that, some 10X confectioner's sugar, a dash of vanilla. Then do Devo ("Whip it good!"). (NOTE: if you like, you can flavor it with a bit of liquer, like amaretto,...)

It will say so on the carton. Heavy Cream, Light Cream, Half & Half, etc....
You use heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla. Then beat the mixture with a hand-held electric mixer until the peaks stiffen.
