I know some people, who have huge homes, with 8 bedrooms, 3 front rooms, 5 bathrooms.. You know the kind of excessive mansion..
Now i wouldnt mind, if they had 1 spare room, but most of these people hardly ever use, at least half the rooms in their home.
When i look for a flat, I want 3/4/5 rooms based on price
A studio is fine, then you dont have to clean extra rooms.
If i ever buy a home, I would like 2 bedrooms, and a front room.
But why oh why do so many people lust after houses, that are so hugh? Why, is the humble home such a dream of opulence for some people?
I just dont get the want for extra bathrooms, and perhaps a library/study/gym/pool... Surely thats a hotel.
Surely they can find some better use for their money, instead of just buying posessions?
I know some rich people, who spend more than 3 times monthly, on general bills, than i do on rent.
I know a girl who spent £3k on a bed, i mean how, my first reaction, was i could buy 6 cars for that money.

Have you noticed.... that only people with little houses ask these types of questions?
What I do with my money is my business and not yours... ok? I can have whatever house I bloody well want without asking your permission......
So what if I have 5 bedrooms? What does it have to do with you in all seriousness.... So what if I spend more on my monthly bills than you do on your rent, what do you care... it isn't your money, it's mine.
I work bloody hard for my money, nothing has been handed to me on a plate, everything I have, I've worked for. I work so I am able to live in a nice house and have nice things..... oh by the way, I spent 5k on my bed!!! And yes... I sleep wonderfully at night....
And before you get on your moral high horse, I also give a lot of my time and money to the two charities that I have chosen to support and also work hard with the charities that my company has chosen to support too. I also regularly give blood and in the past have donated my bone marrow.... so I must be really bloody selfish person musn't I.
perhaps you should divert some of your jealous energy into something a little more constructive.

i have 6 bedrooms , 3 front rooms ,5 bathrooms, playroom, office and a swimming pool and more in my house , and its not a hotel ,the reason i have all these is instead of buying a house already build, we got some one to build it for us its a hell of a lot cheaper, 3 bedroom houses by were i live go for 4 hundred thousand euro or more so why not build youself for a little bit extra you get what you wont and when you come to sell you double your money , theres only me my husband an son living hear although my other rooms do get used but not all the time , i doget what you mean and some people do go a littl bit over the top when buying things and theres no way i wouild spend 3k on a bed i know of people that do it but my reason for having a big house is because me and my husband built it are selves.

People who work very hard are often going to be successful and therefore have more money to spend, and it's right that they should be able to spend their own money as they wish. Personally, if I had that sort of money, of course I would buy a big, beautiful house, with a big, beautiful garden. My ideal house would have high ceilings, huge windows to let in lots of light, and beautiful furniture and paintings on the walls. It would have room for all the books I can't resist collecting, it would have a gym, and a games room for my boyfriend. It would have a heated swimming pool, probably a sauna and a steam room, and a BIG conservatory. Oh and a music room for the baby grand AND a recording studio so I could record all the CDs I wanted! The garden would be fabulous, with beautiful statues and fountains . . . .
People spend money on what's important to them - my dad has spent all his money on travelling all over the world, so now he lives in a bedsit but he's happy. My mum on the other hand, has always wanted a beautiful house and a beautiful garden. She's got a beautiful house, although it's taken her about 15 years to get it the way it is; her garden is gorgeous but it's all been done through hard work and saving. Yes, many people are jealous of her, because they assume she must be wealthy. She isn't - she just spends what little money she has on her house and garden, rather than on foreign holidays, facials and fantastic clothes.
Just concentrate on what's important to you, and don't worry about other people and their money.

While having an enormous house is not my thing, (though ours has to hold six people, so it's not small) I think people should get the house they want. I don't agree with the guy who says you're jealous...but I wonder why you're angry? Money isn't a polite subject, most people rank it with religion and politics, so you're bound to find arguments in abundance.
People I know buy those houses for two reasons. 1- As an investment. There is great profit in real estate. 2- Because they don't want to travel to the gym, they work at home, they entertain at their home, they want everything there so they don't have to go out all the time.
As upset as you may be about people's earning or spending habits, you have to keep that in check because somewhere, someone will think you are rich and wasteful and extravagant.

You really do, have a comma problem!
And you're contradicting yourself. "They" don't obviously "spend money on possessions" only, if they have huge "general bills" for services too. What can you buy instead of things to own, anyway? You want them to hire hookers or bribe little kids? You want them to put their money on a bank account until they die (a little richer)? And why would you buy six crappy old cars instead of one good one? I think you're just jealous and crave to possess what these people can afford.
Most rich people know they shoudln't just waste their money on expensive items unless the price is justified, or else they won't stay rich for long. But what's the point of having a lot of money and not enjoying it? After all, a house is something you can live in, a bed is somewhere you can sleep in, and these people apparently care a lot about their living and sleeping environment. Don't you? Rich people, as well as poor people, can get pleasure in doing the most incredible things, involving money or not.
Buying a house is also an investment. They sometimes want to make a huge investment.
Also consider that rich people spending commensurately to their wealth is good for the economy, and the poorer workers in the end.

Well, they can put family and friends up instead of making them sleep on the floor or couch. I would love to offer my friends a room instead of having them stay in a motel or hotel when they visit? If you live at a distance from all your friends, why not have people stay over for the weekend, and not have it cost them money? You'll always have more money than millions of others, and others will always have more money than you - is that any reason to hoard it under the mattress?
If someone has money, or is good at making money, they are not going to stay home cleaning their own home, they are going to employ others to cook & clean for them. They hire builders, decorators, they buy fabrics, they pay gardeners - and then all those people have a job they like doing & they can pay their rent & food & utilities.
I reckon all those guys you read about who keep their millions out of circulation, and don't spend it are worse. They don't employ anyone, they don't share it with their families, they don't create jobs.

hell if you can afford it why not?! People that work hard to earn that kinda money are more than entitled to splash out and have a nice house!
The people that are merely doing it as a status booster - well that IS sad - living beyond your means just to show up the neighbours!
I guess people just have different tastes when it comes to how the live - lets face it though, a house is going to be the biggest purchase of you life - if you can afford it I say go all out and live in luxury!

I suppose those who have worked hard for the money feel they should be able to spend it how they like. But I agree, houses are getting to be really huge and ostentatious - that said, I would mind extending my own gaff a bit, as it would be good to make my house a little bit bigger. Don't need the second car though.

Yes Well, yet another wingeing verbose question from this puerile person.
Typical "have not" so why shouldn't those who have worked hard have a bit more than they need. This is pure leftie envy, get yourself a spell check and then a life
