As far as us Brits can tell, Scientology is a semi-religion that allows Tom Cruise to go on his little midget-postal rampages about anything and everything....what is the actual deal with Scientology?

1.Do you have to be good at Science?
2.How do you prove this?
3.Do you have to be a short a*ssed clown to join?
4.Is it run by Robots?

They believe that in order to progress as a human, one must abandon all strands of psycho-analytical theory.

Counselling is called 'auditing' where one takes all ones problems and advice is given by a panel of 'Elders'. There are several levels one must attain before one can be truly 'enlightened'.

Science has little to do with the religion, except to say that 'toxins' in ones life must be elimanated through the use of a high-frequency machine that pulsates radiant energy through the brain.

Load of bollocks, if you ask me..

1. No, in fact that can be a handicap as they use this rinky little machine
2. Huh? I didn't quite get that one
3. No, even long a ssed clowns get to join, so long as they got money
4. Yep

Actually US Tax court OFFCIALLY Sactioned them as a bonafide religion, although the IRS only refers to them as a religion started in 1951.

I wonder if this now allows Tom Cruise to legally avoid paying taxes on his income of he donates it to his own non-profit Scientology operation that he runs.

Scientology is based on a book written by a second rate Sci-Fi writer called Dianetics by L. Ron Hubbard.

He's actually below the league of H.G. Wells, who had some nice ideas, but was not a great writer, like, say, GBS.

He's more in the league of Burrows with his Martian sagas.

I guess some people conspired with him to make it a cult following and then it became a religion and he made big money off this, just like any big religious leader does!

I mean, you don't think the Pope or Archbishop of Canterbury has holes in his socks, do you!

Scientology is a farce, it was created as a joke in a book long ago and a few took a liking to some of the ideas and ran with it thus making it a ''religion''. personally i think it's a silly thing but if it makes those who believe in it happy then I'm all for it.

p.s. Tom Cruise was a good and successful actor before he found Scientology, let him be.

1) You have to be really, REALLY bad at science. Us sciencey types just won't believe what they have to say.

2) "This" What is "this"? If it refers to the question above, let me put it to you that science is all about even-handed dealings with evidence, and finding causal factors. In scientology, they talk over their problems wearing silly hats, and say the hats make them feel better, where science people would say it is talking over your problems that helps.

3) Nope.

4) No again - robots are just not smart enough yet.

It's a pseudo religion invented by the sci-fi author L Ron Hubbard as part of a dinner party bet, that people are so easily led that he could invent a spurious religion off the top of his head, and have thousands of devotees within just a few years. Guess he won the bet......

I am NOT into Scientology but what I have been able to make of it is this,
If its fits what you think you have to say then it must be. If it disagrees with what you want its wrong.
