It's not RELIGION that has done this, but man himself!!
People tend to take to the extreme their beliefs, whether they're founded on a religion or not.

What the problem is here, is that there is only one true religion out there with all the truths and fulness of the gospel, and unfortunately there are many, many who are confused and mislead into believing that their beliefs are the one truth, or close to it, and so try to force their ideas onto others. Take what they have or they kill you type of force.
Hitler was like this.

We are definetly heading into WWlll here pretty soon.

And it's pride, hate, selfishness and ignorance to blame, not religion in general.

No, you can say that al qaeda extemists made the world unsafe...you can't include all religions nor can you include all islam because that is applying the specific to the general.
Which is blatantly untrue.

So the answer is no.

Violence clearly did not start with the beginning of Catholicism, as one poster above claims. Where did you get that?

Ever hear of Genghis Kahn?. How about alexander the Great? Ever hear of Ivan the Terrible? How about the Roman Empire (prior to Christ...)? How about the Aztecs? Did you ever read the bagavad gita?

You make no sense.

I am terrorized by some relgions that burn people in an everlasting fire...that had never entered Gods mind. A teaching of the demons and fleecing of the flock by fear. They have tried to make it unsafe to die. But many of us continue to put out the fire with God's word and love

religion does not do it, men who carry hate in their hearts for others do it. some do outrageous acts like Al-Qaida, while others carry it with them and spread it to others like a disease, like media. why do people carry so much hate for muslims? and why only muslims? where was all this concern when North Korea was testing its missile and it blasted 354miles from Japan, Okinawa and Japan was begging for help? so people are just a person of sheer talks, huh.

im going to be very frank with u Trisha -- there are people who are literally tearing up my religion for their intentions -- be it the Al-Qaida or be it the corrupted mullahs or corrupted politicians or be it Islam bashers. if u want to know the thruth u have to meet the real people. talk to those - sit ith them and clarify ur doubts with those who really know this religion. if u get to know this from Islam bashers -- u are obviously wasting ur precious time and energy.

no. Religion is one of the three major ways to gain power and control in society. all cultures and societies need a religious belief system which works for them. you can tell the type of religion by the society but you can also tell the type of society by the religion. the culture and society who try to force their beliefs on another
( because their way is the only right path to GOD ) may change their view when interactions take place. those who continue forcing others to change are ignoring a basic rule given mankind which is the rule of free will.

I think we can safely say that, yes. But don't forget the Christians killing Muslims in Sudan, Somalia and not too long ago in Yugoslavia.

It's not just Islam, it is all religions - although the monotheistic, Abrahmaic ones seem to be the most bloodthirsty.

I agree and not just with the recent activities, look back to the crusades, the witch hunts. All of this violence and religious wars began as soon as Catholicism became a popular religion (and its suppose to be the most tolerant and understanding of all the religions).
