Because of its saliva , it's dirty and unholy according to the al-Quran , its okay to keep them as pets as long as we wash our hands/other body parts 7 Times after we touched the dog.
if we didnt wash our hands after that then we cannot do our Prayers (Shalat)
i hope that helps and excuse my english, its not my mother tongue.

I guess because there weren't a lot of dogs in the Arab Peninsula, where Islam was founded. Anyway, it is a good idea to give a male dog the name Ali, and a female dog the name Halida, after Izetbegovic and his first wife. of call a Doberman: Rumush. or Smile, after Haradinaj's first name and underground nickname. There is also a Senator in the US, Barbara Boxer, though she is not a Muslim by religion. If you have a female boxer, why not call her Barbara?

Because dogs count impure animals, like pigs. Keeping them is ok, but their saliva is considered "dirty". guess it's based on health matters.
Consequently, people don't like keeping them.
