Yes of course they should. Why do people on the dole get it for free when they get paid practically the same as me who is working. With working families credits and benefits, for low wage earners the actual difference between benefit dwellers and workers is slim. This means that after paying for my mortgage, tax, bills, dinner monies, council tax etc etc etc I have no more spare cash than dole dwellers. Why should I pay for their kids to eat and mine?

Unfortunately this is very unlikely to happen. People on benefits (and only those on income-based benefits) receive free school meals because their income is low and cannot afford to pay out. They are also entitled to free school uniforms as well.
People who are working although they pay their taxes they also have to pay for the uniforms and school meals. Incidentally, they are also paying for those people who are on the income-based benefits (i.e. people who have never worked or haven't paid enough national insurance contributions in the past two years).
I think it would be great if everyone had free school meals but it's never going to happen. Schools have a difficult enough time paying for other things let alone food, and healthy food is more expensive anyway.

Why? It would just push up the taxes and place more burdens on those people who have no children, etc etc. If you can't afford to feed your children, surely you shouldn't be having them. We're not in the midst of starvation, depression etc
Been a single mother, been poor, worked all the hours to feed and clothe them. Every child has two parents who should be responsible for their well being. In an ideal world. Sorry - I say we should all pay for our own children. There's no such thing as a free lunch!
Now when I see poor pensioners living on tins of cat food - that's a different story.

Yes it should be free to all children, after all its the tax payers who are paying for these so called free meals. So why should tax payers who work have to pay for school meals when the non working, non tax paying population are getting free school meals.

In an ideal world yes, but schools already suffer through lack of funds, and if parents what the school to provide a decent meal for their kids at lunch time then they have to pay for it. More money needs to be allocated for schools, very good question.

think if a family who lives in a 500,000,.00 and up home and sends their child to public school
NO they should not get free lunch (which here where I live people who live in gated communities extremely expensive homes make 6 digits a year can afford the 2.00 a day lunch
To where people who are disability (one who cant help that they cant work ) and live on less than 1000,---2000, a month not by choice (not a free loader) should get the help. these people still have to pay for books, supplies, and uniforms
And be pushed over and over again to send in money (fund raising) and in public school (which I speak of) get government money and treat you like shi*
If you make over a certin amount yes you should pay for lunch

I have no kids but I do think all kids should get free school meals. This would then hopefully stop more priviledged kids taking the mikey out of others.

No, because the people who don't have kids would have to pay for your kids lunches through their taxes. Ouch. P.S. I already scrounged enough to pay for my three sons lunches...I don't need to pay for someone else's too.
Think of the people who can't afford them anyways...they barely can put food on their own table at night. Let them have a few benefits. Consider yourself lucky.
