Sick.
Why is it that FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) causes an uproar but it's equivalent, Male Genital Mutilation - which is exactly what circumcision is - is fine and dandy?
Talk about double standards!!!!
If you take a sharp edge to the genitals of a child, you mutilate them. It really is as plain and simple and easy to understand as that. And anybody doing or endorsing it should hang their heads in shame. They really are no better than the primitives who take razors to little girls, or stand back while others do it.
Circumcising a boy for "hygienic purposes" is like pulling teeth to make sure nothing gets stuck between them.
Circumcision is absolutely and inexcusably barbaric, and one of the most chilling examples of how easily people who think themselves civilised and intelligent can stop thinking and become brainwashed in to accepting without question a sick religious legacy.

85% of the world's Christians DO NOT circumcise. This is because of the many New Testament passages (Romans 2:29, Romans 3:30, Acts 15:10, I Corinthians 7:18, Galatians 5:6, Galatians 5:2, Galatians 6:15, Philippians 3:2, Colossians 2:12, Matthew 9:12) which in effect say anything from "it doesn't matter" to "you must not" circumcise.
For Catholics (over a third of all Christians), an official 1952 Papal edict and Catechism item 2297 expressly forbid routine circumcision. This is obviously lost on the average American.

I am, my children are...all the friends I know of are. Most kids born in the USA are circumcised due to health reasons not religious ones. Christianity has no laws dealing with it. Jewish people still follow the ritualistic circumcision from the Judeo covenant from the Old Testament. Can you imagine circumcising yourself as an adult as they did in the OT? And we're not talking about surgical instruments either! Ouch! But a covenant with the Lord was a sure good reason!

Circumcision, for Christians, is now a matter of personal (or parental) choice rather than one of spiritual significance...
"For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation." - Galatians 6: 15

Christians do not circumsize their children because in the West we have a thing called SOAP. We use soap to clean the foreskin.
We do not circumsize in Australia because we feel to enact a form of non-elective, totally obselete surgery on a defenceless baby is a form of abuse.
We do not live in the desert in the West where the dry climate leads to infection.
Welcome to the 21st Century.......

Sorry your information is false. The problem is that many Christians insist on circumcision, and while it may appeal to the females, it is a hinderance to the males...there is an effort to stop such a barbaric and unwanted practice.

My last boyfriend came from a protestant christian family and was circumcised. Just because it's not part of the religious practice, doesn't mean that people don't do it.

Most Christians "do" circumcise thier children because its healthier to do so, then leave the foreskin on, and they will have to have it removed later in life.
I know of a few people who had it removed later in life and they suffered complications, such as infections and all that, because thier Parents didnt do it.
But, on the other hand, when I had my own son circumcised, the doctor was barbaric! He didnt use any type of anastesia or anything to numb the poor kid, and just started to cut and cut and cut!!! I felt sorry for my child, laying there screaming, and the Doctor telling me that "he doesnt really feel this" What a load of crock!!
You dont scream and turn red, from not feeling this! Babies feel more things, because they have "fresh" nerve endings. (Remember as a child, you felt more pain than when you got older, because your nerve endings arent as "fresh" as when you were young, now, think as a baby, "all" the nerves are raw, and tender and you feel everything and experience everything), like I said, it was barbaric to see, and painful to witness.
I wish you well..

A lot of Christians circumcise their children. Mostly for hygenic reasons and not religious.
