Yhe difference is that there is a "string" like part of the green bean that runs along the seam. Just snap (bend the end over until it breaks) the top of each bean and pull it downward by the seam. It pulls off like a string. It makes it easier to eat when you pull the string off. It is all part of the string bean. I have grown string beans and I know they take work but fresh ones are so much better and better for you.

Do you mean runner beans? You cut all the rough edges off and cut them in a slanted style and boil for around 15-20 mins. Green beans are smaller and you can cook them as they are, i.e whole, however runner beans have more flavour I think.

if they are runner beans yea you need to take both sides of and cut in middle and half them,if you have a steamer thats the best way to cook if not just boil them with a little salt for 15 mins.

They are the same. After washing and trimming the ends and maybe slicing in half, just boil them in some lightly salted water until just tender and serve with melted butter over the top with salt and pepper to taste.
