Im looking for reasons why people appreciate, trust and need doctors...aside from the obvious that they physically take care of their patient. Please be as specific as possible...and list as many reasons why a MD is important in society, to you personally or to anyone around you!

I was looking for other than the obvious...i am well aware that people need doctors in case they get sick, and everything else health related. I am a Medical student, just to clarify...and was wondering why else people look up to or need physicians, other than them being there to help with their illnesses :)

Because we get sick and need to get well enough to take care of our families as soon as possible. Being sick is no fun at all, especially when you have a family to take care of. Then, if my wife or kids get sick I need someone to take care of them. Go live in any third world country and see what happens when people get sick and there are no doctors, is is not funny, and this was a very unfunny question, too.

I don't know how to answer that question other than stating the obvious. I am going to give you some unasked for advice. I hope you don't mind. Be a doctor who really listens. Listens to the concern or fear in a patients voice. I have dealt with doctors who really seem to hear me and those who seem to think I'm the sum total of what the nurse wrote on the paper. They're efficient, but cold. I prefer a doctor who seems to have some empathy with me. Who seems to really care about what's going on.

Yeah, right--
The Native American Indians didn't get sick, and now look at how many people trust The Medical Mafia. All duped into a money & power scandal to prepare for the New World Order.

Doctors go to school in order to learn about the human body. Its diseases and its complications that can afflict it.

Now, they learn which medicines to dispense, in order to make you better. If you cant get better, then to make you more comfortable.

Some times, they hit it right, and the operation is a success. Sometimes they get it wrong, and a malpractise suit occurs.

Doctors on the whole, know more about my problems than I do, to deal with my body, so I would trust them, as they see a lot of strange things every day. They can diagnose a disease and suggest a "cure" for it.

With out them, we would be using voodoo medicine and all kinds of people would be dying all over the place.

I wish you well..

I make a contribution plenty to society if it I cant improve up and function "organic" children. I plan on being a father sometime and adopting children. there are such quite some children in this international who favor loving mothers and fathers even if this is 2 loving fathers, 2 loving moms, a mom, a dad, or a mom and a dad. they in basic terms favor a house and some love. in basic terms because i'm gay under no circumstances capacity i'm a burden on society!

It talks about physicians in the Bible, could be why it's important to some people. The fact is we need them. Mines important to me personally because I have a number of illnesses and he keeps me in line on taking care of them~My dad had a quadruple bypass who else could of done that for him besides a doctor? and Thank God for them~even though some of them suck, lol.

Medical Doctors are important to our society because they can help those with more serious cases. I, myself, don't need a doctor that often because I'm a hearty person who came from hearty stock. Doctors have helped erradicate diseases we could not, measles, mumps, polio, etc. Keep yourself healthy and you only need one once or twice a year.

Over time from the beginning(whenever that was)our genes etc have become "corrupted",just like a computers software can.Hence we become unwell.Other than injury,if our personal software had remained as it was in the beginning we would not need physicians.
