"Why is it that science cannot/ has not proven evloution (meaning the changing of species, or the cosmic origins, or the origins of life) and yet people believe it. They take it without question."
Some people question it. Either way, people believe it because there is scientific evidence to back it up.
"One reason I receive the comment about science being a religion is because I believe in the fact of evolution. I even believe in it with passionate conviction. To some, this may superficially look like faith. But the evidence that makes me believe in evolution is not only overwhelmingly strong; it is freely available to anyone who takes the trouble to read up on it. Anyone can study the same evidence that I have and presumably come to the same conclusion. But if you have a belief that is based solely on faith, I can't examine your reasons. You can retreat behind the private wall of faith where I can't reach you."

why do xtians...?
Why is it that god cannot/ has not proven creation (meaning the poof! and there was everything) and yet they believe it. They take it without question. They simply look at the looney pastor that made the statement and consider him to be smarter than they and then they trust him. And they do this with gold in mind? How can we show them in a meaningful way that believing science is far more than just simply quibling over the fact that we refuse to accept the belief that life just popped out of a rib...?

The fact is that Evolution is a theory on a par with Heliocentrim (that the Earth revolves around the sun). Scientific theories are not whimsy, they are well established. The lay definition of theory has little or no relation to how science defines the term.
as Judy said, in your worldview the "devil is in the DNA."
Think about it:
1) Chimpanzees, who have 98.5% the same DNA as humans are more closely related to us than they are to gorillas
2) Biochemists have discovered a large quantity of "junk DNA" the leftovers from millions of mutations that have no phenotype (display characteristic) any longer.
3) Pathology (the study of how viruses form, mutate and die) has shown us a lot about evolution. Why do you think that everyone is afraid of H5N1 (bird flu)? Because it kills birds? No, because it could easily mutate (in an evolutionary drive to propagate) and infect new hosts (i.e., humans).
That's not exhaustive and it doesn't even touch the fossil evidence, for which there is quite literally, tons and tons.
And, who said "life popped out of a rock?" If you want to make informed debate on this subject, you ought to actually read what evolutionary theory has to say. I have read quite a lot about so-called "Intelligent Design" and I can honestly say I find it to be complete rubbish as a scientific "theory"

That's not really what happened, life popping out of a rock. Maybe you should do some research first. Thinking you're superior because you don't believe in evolution is... arrogant, and wrong. There is proof. There's books of proof, species of proof, etc. And even if there isn't, who are you to tell someone their belief is wrong. Do you have absolute proof or is it just something you believe that someone you consider wise told you? Someone could tell you that quibbling about a bible story which has so much proof against it is a waste of time, but they don't. If you want to hate people for believing in theories and think you're better than them better do you research and think about imposing your beliefs on others.

Evolution is the best conclusion to the evidence found, which is far far more than you're creationist brethren will lead you to believe.
One 'looney professor' hasn't just stated that this is what is so and people have fallen in line behind him. Research, in a period of time which can be measured in centuries, has gone into finding a mechinism that explains the evidence. Biologists haven't just been sitting in labs twiddling their thumbs all this time.
You are looking at science through religion tinted glasses, the modi operandi of the two are different. I suggest you look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_Method

Oh, they've proven it, alright... proven it to themselves.
They proved to the world, for a good number of decades, there were 9 planets. Oops! There's *really* only 8.
They've proven to the world that most all life died out with the dinosaurs... Oops! Here's the Caelocanth.
They've proven to the world that Celebrex is good for you. Oops! Got a ton of dead people now.
They've proven that lobotomies and shock treatments are good for the mentally deranged. Oops! They're worse off now than they were before.
They've proven that the sound barrier is unbreakable. Oops! Chuck Yeager just broke it.
See where this is headed? Anyone who takes a scientist's word as being undenyable fact will find that, in a matter of time, that very scientist was wrong. And ironically, they will still believe that they're infallible even after they correct their theory once again.

I think the problem is that they're told lies like "all scientists believe in evolution." They need to know that this is not a conflict of science and religion. They need to be exposed to scientific facts that tell them the truth, and learn about all the problems with evolution. They need to go to these websites although I'm sure there's a lot more really good ones:
http://www.icr.org
http://www.trueorigin.org
http://www.creationevidence.org
http://www.discovery.org
http://www.evolutiondocumentary.com (this one is from a Muslim scholar to all of you who think that creationism is just a Christian belief)
And to the person who said my websites are "deceptive," can't stand that there's scientists who disagree with you, huh? What ever happenned to the freedom of academic inquiry that science is supposedly all about? Oh, wait that's only for people who agree with you.
It's also interesting that you always see the discredited DNA argument popping up too. Mice also have 99% the same DNA as humans, and bananas have 50% the same DNA as humans -- can you imagine the "common ancestor" between human beings and bananas? It's ridiculous!
Oh, and go ahead, give me a thumbs down! I'm not going to be intimidated into believing in your lies!

Only christians claim there "evidence" is infallible, science constantly updates as technology becomes available. If the creationist held the bible to the same scientific standards they held evolution too, they would see that snakes don't talk, people don't live in whales, and earth is much older than 6000 years.
And the questioner is a YA troll, the sad thing is he reeled in some real xian loonies.

Science has not proven their theory but man wants to believe that they won't have to answer to God so therefore they cling to the belief in no God. It actually goes against the knowledge God has put inside them, to know the truth. God has given to each man a measure of faith, some choose to ignore God, after all God does let us choose life or death.

as in everything in life, people never agree to it. You have some groups that believe this, and some that believe that. But we will never all believe in one thing. Not everybody believe in evolution, (can't imagine why) thus not everybody believe in God. But we all believe in something, which at the end of time, and if you think about it really hard, is the same thing. and if all this is too much for your brain, don't worry,it,s too much for mine as well.
