It doesn't so much say anything as teach something.
Through metaphors and symbolisms it describes a range of values and principles which serve as a decent guide for life. If we embrace those principles, and encourage others to do the same, life really does become more pleasant not just for ourselves, but for everybody else.
And I'm an atheist who recognises the power of evolution.
But there is no law against a heathen reading the manual and trying to follow the instructions.
In the end I find that while evolution explains how life works, the Bible explains how life can be lived.

The things that come across to me from the Bibleare that God's ways are not human ways.
Humans cling to this life as if it were the end of everything.
Jesus came to end his life.
I am told to keep in there, love God as best I can, help my neighbour (and by that I mean anyone in need of help to the best of my ability) and to look forward to the possibility of being in God's presence for ever.
This may not be everyone's interpretation, but you asked what the Bible says to me in my own words.

it starts with creation. then an angel who became satan challenge God's right to rule. the rest of the bible is an account of how Jehovah puts in place a means of escape for those who would take it, and prophecies pointing to a time when satan and all who follow him will be abyssed. the dead will be resurrected, given a chance to reach perfection again, then judged on their deeds after the resurrection, the satan is released before being destroyed along with all who follow him that time around. then the righteous will live forever on earth

The interesting thing about the Bible is that when you read the same passage at different times in your life it will say different things to you, as God knows the tiniest details of our lives so completely...

You are in a big school called life. You either get the lessons or you keep repeating them. When you have to repeat the same thing over and over because of patterns God shrugs his shoulders and says "Here we go again"

The Bible says lots of different things to me, it speaks to every different situation, every decision, every day I learn something new, and every day I realize just how much more God loves me than I thought HE did the day before.

God is real. He works through history. He holds us accountable. He is willing to share his wisdom. He has a big heart and a detailed plan.
