This is my salvation from boredom at work. As soon as Ive emptied my intray, I come on here.
I love helping people with real problems, sticking it to people who are jerks, entertaining myself with humerous answers, or laughing at the funny questions people sometimes ask.

This is a great question. You've really got me thinking.
I've only been on this site since September 4th, and I'm not even sure how I found out about it. I think it just appeared on my browser and I checked it out. I'm new to this whole computer thing. I think my initial attraction was out of boredom but then it started taking on a life of it's own. It was as if someone breathed new life into my very being.
I started answering questions and starated feeling like I was really making a difference and helping someone. I was making a contribution. It's a great feeling. Kind of like the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi where he says, "For it is in giving that we receive."
And then when someone selects your input as a best answer; I can't even describe the exhilaration this brings. What validation!
I've been touting my praise for Yahoo Answers at work and I think it's starting to catch on with the younger set, even though they look at me a little skewed when I tell them I do all this just to earn points. Please, don't misunderstand, it's much more than points, it's the feeling of accomplishment and pride. The point system is just a means of making this more tangible.
Who knows where all this may lead. But I did buy a used college algebra book a few weeks ago and at the time I didn't really know why I felt a need to do this. But after tackling a few rudimentary algebra equations that came from students doing their homework, this book may be just what I need. Did a power greater than myself want me to buy this book for some greater purpose before I had any inkling as to what that greater purpose might be? Is Yahoo Answers that greater purpose? Only time will tell.
It's just fun!

On the contrary, Yahoo Answers is a great website for those
people who are interested to do research, chat, give opinions,
help others and many more. The topics for discussion is so
wide in range that you can literally touch on anything you like
and yet there are millions of people waiting to answer your
questions.
Personally I find it very interesting and refreshing. I'm happy
when I'm networking at Yahoo Answers.

Most of my answers I give is honest opinions hoping that it might help someone. I feel very good when I get the points for my answer because that means someone has been helped by my answer in some or other way.

As a cab driver I work a lot, so I watch TV while sitting at the computer. When I'm not working on responses to queries from fathers, I go through here.

Partly boredom, and partly just to see what people are asking. Usually it's kids not wanting to do their own homework, or jerks asking silly sexual questions, but occasionally you find an intelligent question. And I have met a few very nice people because of this site...

I am here as I enjoy reading most of the questions and I actually enjoy giving answers to as many as I can.

For me I find it quite educational. Some of the questions and answers are moronic and yet others are very intellectually stimulating.
