"Wine is a mocker, intoxicating drink arouses brawling, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise"- Prov 20:1

Yup. Wine is part of the Passover feast (for the portion of Christians who celebrate it... it is a time to remember when the 10th plague passed over the Hebrews while in Egypt), and part of Communion (when we remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us, set forth for us at the Last Supper). Matthew 26

Plus, Paul told Timothy that a little wine is good for the stomach (Timothy apparently had some stomach problems, and drank only water, so Paul suggested this to ease his problems). 1 Tim. 5:23

One more... the first miracle Jesus did was turn water into wine at the marriage feast at Cana. John 2:1-11

A little alcohol every once in a while is good. Alcohol on a regular basis is not. Drinking, if it causes offense to another, is not. Drunkenness is especially not (1 Tim. 5:23, 1 Tim 3:8/Titus 2:3, Rom. 14:21, Eph. 5:18).

Different Christians interpret the bible differently. Some believe that if it is done in moderation it isn't a problem. Some believe social drinking isn't a problem. Others believe if it doesn't insult your fellow man that it isn't a problem. And yet others believe you aren't suppose to touch it. Which Christian are you asking?
I am a Christian. I drink every once in a blue moon, but, I don't drink much because I am getting too old for it.

"Therefore do not let anyone judge you with respect to food or drink, or in the matter of a feast, new moon, or Sabbath days – these are only the shadow of the things to come, but the reality is Christ!" - Colossians 2:16-17

I think the Orthodox religions take wine for their sacrament. Some Christians can but some don't believe it is healthy and It isn't if it turns to alcohol abuse.

Yes it is. Unfortunately the minute you mention alcohol everybody thinks of a drinking spree. I am a christian and have a drink every now and then.

Show me someone who drinks too much, who has to try out some new drink, and I will show you someone miserable and sorry for himself...Don`t let wine tempt you... the next morning you will feel as if you had been bitten by a poisonous snake... `Why can`t I wake up? I need another drink...`

Yes it is okay for a Christian to occasionally have a drink or two. The bible just says do not become involved in drunkenness.

I don't see why not. Didn't jesus turn water into wine (1st miracle) for a wedding party that ran out? I don't think he would have done that if he condemned.

Anything in excess is bad. We can even die from drinking too much water.
