I've heard that in Saudi Arabia men get the custody of children after a certain age and that the mother then has no legal right to see her children, and that visitation occurs at the will of the husband. Is this true? Isn't this unhuman?

Islamic law is that the mother keeps the child until they are 12(i think this is the age) and then the father takes custody. But the mother still should have visitation rights. This is the law of Islam but of course Islamic laws are not always followed.

Emma 86 is totally right ...I'm SAUDI
But the mother have the right to see here children as much as she or they desire, but it really depend on what kind of men the father is.
some of them doesn't give a damn about Islam or any basic human rights, and the Saudi government never force any one to do any thing !!! so it really up to the surrounding society to force the person to do the right thing.

According to Islamic law, the children belong to the father. When the couple divorces the kids go with the father and the mother is not allowed to see them.

If the mother will attempt to see them and cought she is okay to be slaughtered by the father or by his famili.

In Saudi Arabia women cannot divorce their husbands. They have to get their husbands to divorce them. This usually involves a payment to the husband from the wife's father.

The children remain the property of the husband at all times, unless the wife flees the country with the husbands approval.
