You should be proud of yourself and what you do. It's not you that is giving muslims a bad name.

There are good and bad people everywhere. Your race, religion or creed do not have any bearing on what type of person you are. There are always people out there that want to persecute others and will find a reason to do so.
In an ideal world, everyone would live together, get on, and work and strive together towards the common good.
We do not live in an ideal world.
You should be proud of who you are and strive to make the world a better place in your own way. Even if it's just being nice to other people and helping them out by answering their questions.
Yahoo Answers is a good start.

I live right here in the US and happen to even believe in jesus. If you are not proud of being a muslim, then why are you one? I'm not saying you should not be proud of being a muslim, i'm asking you to examine your feelings. Is it because of the current social/political climate happening in the world today? Look, i've got an article with some very amazing (yet kinda scairy links)
I'm not saying you should hate the US once you read them (meeps! i'm from the US) I'm not saying you should root for the middle east.
i just think, before you get disenheartened about your religion and/or spirituality, that perhaps you should have some other info other than just Fox news...
Before you click the link... I would also like to say, sadly, a lot of US citizens don't have this information, and we are often fed a steady diet of self importance and are nutritionally bankrupt when it comes to critical reasoning skills, but this is by design. Not to excuse anyone for ignorance, but compassion, grace, and forgiveness might be something to consider..as US citizens are largly unaware of what their government is actually up to.
Incase you are wondering what the links are, they are to an article discussing a report written by dick cheney, rumsfeld, etc. A lot of people aren't aware that the good ol' boys would write this. I'm very ashamed and even terrified, but it is their report...
Also, here is a good book that takes a serious look at the hostility (global, not just some parts of the middle east) directed towards the US. It takes a question many US citizens are asking, and it attemps to give us an answer.

Although I am diametrically opposed to all forms of religion, I appreciate that people have the right to believe in whatever they want and most certainly do not think that you should feel ashamed of being a Muslim.
You are a true Muslim and should be proud of that fact. What the West should do is be more pro-active in encouraging Muslim leaders and Muslims like you to stand with us in condemning the acts of the fanatics and terrorists and work more closely to bring an end to all of this mindless bloodshed.
The Muslim faith has been hijacked by these fundamentalists and the true Muslims like you, need to get it back.

Friend !
Islam is an excellent religion and bit hard to follow! Muslims are not proud in their own states due to several difficulties they face from their own religious people. If you live in a country where multi religions dominate and have equal recognition, there the kindling of hatred starts from the Muslim clergy!
They call all the non Muslims as "Qafir" - issue "Fathuwa" - start "Jihad" for being the followers of a different faith that is not propogated by Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
If one sees Holy Quoran as an excellent dictionary and try to findout the meaning of other faiths' rituals, they will end up in great tragedy!
Above clarification goes along with Islam and Muslims till they exist, as they live as oil and water friendship, where ever they live. They suspect others even a non Muslim does a great assistance in need, they never recognise it even after availing it.
Am I right ?

well, I'm a Muslim and I was born in the USA (right near New York City)... and I think you should be proud to be a Muslim. The people who are doing wrong in this world are not true Muslims. They are misguided people who don't even understand 1% of Islam. You should be a true follower of Islam, one who loves peace, kindness, compassion, mercy, generosity, is good to your neighbors, who does not like violence and always tells the truth and is always on time. If you embrace the good qualities of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) then the world will realize that you are a true Muslim and those terrorist are not Muslims... they are just evil terrorists who have nothing to do with Islam. And forget about the Media and what they say about Muslims. The Media is controlled by Jews who just want to give Islam and Muslims a bad name. The Media is a puppet of the Dajjal and if you follow it, you will lose your faith in Islam. Be strong as a mountain in your faith in Allaah and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Islam. You should love Islam and follow it peacefully.
Wasallamu 'alaikum!

In your question you have used the words 'I am Muslim.'
I think that you know who you are and you should be confident in yourself and your beliefs, regardless of what other people who label themselves as Muslim do with their lives.
In Islam we believe that this life is a test and we will be judged solely on what we have done with our own lives. What anyone else does with their lives will have no bearing on the outcome of Allah's judgement on us.
Be proud brother! Stand up and be counted! There are so many Muslims around the world who have thought the same as you, including me. What this world needs is better representation of the good, kind, honest and peace loving people in the world, a voice united by Allah to make this world a safe and beautiful place to live in for all of humanity, and you can be one of those people!
Go for it and make Allah proud!!!

i am a muslim too. i am proud to be a muslim and i am proud to follow Islam. BUT I AM NOT PROUD OF PEOPLE WHO TWIST AND TURN THE MEANING OF ISLAM AND QURAN for THEIR DIRTY INTENTIONS. and i am not from the middle east at all.
hey brother, do u know that u are named after a very good role model? he was a man who changed the course of history. Hazrath Bilal -- a long journey from a slave to a preacher, a scholar, an expertin Quran recital.
i suggest that u leave YA! at once and go read Quran and find comfort in it. if it is time for prayer, then pray to Allah that He gives u strength and courage. these are tests in ur life and u have to learn to pass these with flying colours. pray and God will help u. and be proud of who u are and ur righteous deeds, dont worry about the world. u be righteous and that is what Allah wants.
edit: THE PERSON ABOVE ME-- have u ever read the Quran to understand it or u just read it to FIND FAULTS?. if someone reads Quran to find faults or from some people who write a book and call themselves Experts, then u are completely wrong. and i challenge u to give me one verse from the Quran that orders muslims to KILL UNJUSTLY. and let me see which God will accept a follower who spreads false rumors and propagandas.

I am truly proud to be a Muslim because I know Islam is the right religion and I am on the right path. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. Everything I have belongs to Allah. Islam tells us everything from what happens to us when we are born to when we die and also what is going to happen to us after death.
I am proud to be a Muslim because everyone in Islam is treated equally even if you are an Arab or non-Arab, white or black, you are treated equal. In Islam we pray salah five times a day, one before sunrise, one at noon, one in the afternoon, another one after sunset and the last one before going to sleep. These five salah help me remember Allah and when I remember Allah I don’t misbehave, I don’t do foolish things and I don’t do things that make Allah or my parents unhappy.
Islam is a pure religion because it shows us how to live an excellent life and go to paradise in the Hereafter. It teaches me manners like how to behave with my elders. It tells us to fast in the month of Ramadan so it shows us how poor people sometimes live without food and water and it tells us to share our wealth with the less fortunate in the form of Zakah (poor-due), and sadaqa(charity).
In Islam there is a purpose for everything. The Holy Qur’an is a huge miracle because no one on the surface of earth can write such a beautiful book like the Qur’an. The Qur’an is the only Holy Book, which has not been changed by mankind from the time it was revealed by Allah through our Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam..
I am proud to be a Muslim and I believe that all Muslims should be proud to be Muslims because Islam is a true religion with God.
and YOU MUST TO DO if you are really MUSLIM

If you like you're religion and your believing in it isn't hurting anyone else, then there's no reason you should be unhappy with it. There are bad people in every group. Condemn those that act inhumanely but if you're happy with who you are, be proud of who you are. If you don't like your religion then it's fine if you leave it, but don't leave it or be unhappy with it just because others are temporarily giving it a bad name.
"forget answering this if you live in pakistan middle east or if you live in a muslim country."
I'm not Muslim nor do I live in a Muslim country.

I am not a muslim, nor am I particularly proud or ashamed of my religion.
All the death and destruction that is going on in the world is nothing to do with religion. Religious differences are just used as an excuse for war.
Instead of telling the truth - I want that person's land to benefit my own quest for power or I want to dominate these particular people, religion is a great excuse to hide behind.
