you do not need to read any literature , just open your front door and look out, i wouldnt advise stepping out after dark though, as you may well find yourself in a modern day bronx , immigration and asylum are very closely linked , as they are both dealing a major body blow to this land of ours , dividing communties , breaking up the health service , i mean you even have to pay for dental treatment for kids now!! , UNLESS , yes bet you have guessed it....... you are either an asylum seeker or an immigrant , yes even as an immigrant into this country with work , you are entitled , sorry , legally have the right for access to free nhs for twelve months , go into any inner city school and you will find teachers leaving because they dont like their options , either teaching to kids who cant speak english or getting stabbed by some little gangsta (usually some poor little kid .. awww.. from a broken home , which was in albania or somewhere , i mean how many safe countries do these people pass through to get to the promised land , even better if they hate westeners , we will give you an interpreter , who just so happens to know the benefits system inside out , BUT ON A BRIGHTER NOTE , JUST LOOK AT THE FUTURE FOR OUR KIDS , THE FUTURE HAS NETHER LOOKED BETTER( if you can afford to up sticks that is)

Yes, there is absolutely no evidence that immigrants to this country have ever made a worthwhile contribution.
Oh, unless you count the Hugeonots, who transformed the British banking system and were probably one of the most important factors in establishing our global domination in the 19th Century; east european Jews, who in the 19th Century revolutionised retail in this country (eg Marks & Spencer, Burtons etc); the West Indians, who initially came over to do the jobs no-one else wanted to, and are now such a vital and integral part of society; the Ugandan Asians in the 1970's who caused another revolution in retail, without them shops would still close early on Saturdays and during the week; the Aussies, without who many a Londoner would get served in a pub ........
Nuff said.

It would be much better if the rich countries did not set up trade barriers and we paid a decent rate for work & resources done in those countiries immigrants come from.
Few people leave their country without the stick of poverty & the carrot of better jobs; would they leave if the global economy had dealt with their countries equitably?
So, given the amount of cheap labour and resources accrued to Britain through it's position of power over poorer countries, the cost of a TV licence is trivial.
Conversley, should all the british emigrants be re-patriated?

Hi Claire. I can understand that you must be mad, but the link you gave applies to asylum seekers.
Now immigration might or might not help the economy, but asylum seekers are a whole different bunch.
Unlike people who immigrate looking for work, asylum seekers are fleeing from war zones like Uganda. They are not allowed to work, and the government only houses them until the problems in their country is over, and they can return, without getting killed, and then they must return.
So please note Asylum seekers and Immigrants are two different things!

I think you mean licence dear, this is not the usa!
I have taken a look at the website you quoted, noting that it is the British National Party and by deduction bound to have a rather slanted view on the subject.
The article refers to ASYLUM SEEKERS. You were asking if IMMIGRATION was good or bad.
Yes, I believe that controlled immigration is GOOD especially after reading THAT document!!

what is the best way to get welfare? If illigal immigrants get it why can't I , After all, I was born here. Something is not right here.
How can I get away without paying my emergency room bill. After all We had to wait 9.5 hours just to get into the triage room because the whole er. was filled with illigal immigrants.

I would say that immigration does NOT help the economy. It brings it down, down, down. I didn't have to read the article. It is crystal clear that if you want to get anywhere in life, have a home, money, insurance and the like, you have to be an illegal/ legal immigrant! Everything is handed to them on a platter, then they are asked if they want seconds.

i firmly belive we need to impose strict limits on immigration, and ensure they can and will contribute to the economy before entry to uk is granted. well done for raising this issue again.
