Nearly all major religions are deeply rooted in the ancient past. Therefore, is being "ahead" a suitable, or even a valid way of judging religion? It can be argued that those that look retrogressively are the more accurate and true.
I think we should be looking at which religion can adapt, without losing core principles, to a multi-ethnic/cultural world.

Islam. It is the finality of religions which contains the perfect message for healing and salvation. It shows people who to live in this world while preparing for life after death. It's gives us the perfect revelation (The Qur'an) which is a miracle and contains knowledge that people are still discovering today to be true. Islam is the only religion accepted by God Almighty.

the question is very subjective because the premises for judging is not given. Is it in terms of number of followers, or the truth of the roots of the faith, or by other criterion of comparison? nevertheless if knowledge and truth is the issue, then none of the religion is ahead of each other because the basis of religion is faith. "Knowledge" and "faith" are nearly opposite concepts. When there is knowledge, faith is not required. I think most religion are based on faith and therefore is hard to rank them.

Hare Krishna.
They live their life according to the Vedas- the oldest scriptures known to man.
The Vedas are the nearest we will ever get to the truth about God, anyone who lives thier life according to these scriptures is ahead of those people who have no religion or those who choose to follow false Gods.

To the best of my knowledge, Christianity has the most adherents and within Christianity Roman Catholicism has the largest membership. I think Islam is the next largest. However, who wishes to play the numbers game. We do not have to accept other faiths or divisions of the same faith, but we do need to be respectful of and to be charitable to people of all faiths and none.

Christianity has the most followers, and is growing faster than any other religion. Mostly because people aren't bullied or forced to belong like islam.

Hinduism is the oldest and wisest. Shame not many have the capacity to understand it and only harp on about idols, many gods and such like. Apply your brains that the good lord has given you and see. Just read this one page.
