We got a freeview box yesterday, however, the signal does not appear to be strong enough for it to work properly and we can't even get film 4. We already have a booster but it doent seem to help much. Any suggestions for improving?

An aerial booster simply boosts the aerial signal for analogue. It's more than likely to have a detrimental effect on a digital signal.

I would suggest, firstly that you disconnect your booster and use just the roof aerial (I assume you have a roof aerial and not a set-top one). That should immediately improve the signal. If that works, then fine.

Failing that, you will have to pay for an aerial upgrade, which costs from £60 upwards. If someone says they can do it cheaper than that, ensure that they are giving you a digital strength aerial, not simply an analogue one, as the signal will be no better than what you have now.

I hope this helps.

till you reside very on the threshold of a transmitter, indoor aerials are fully ineffective for Freeview, regardless of a booster. regrettably, in case you are able to not extra healthful a roof aerial (it is the only thank you to get an excellent Freeview sign), you're somewhat caught...

It maybe your out of range for the freeview. If the ariel goes into your roof check that it is ok. It maybe that you will need to upgrade to a larger one. check out freeview website and I think you can enter your postcode to see what you can receive

try having an external aerial fitted that usually works but i think that might be quite expensive just for a freeview box

You may need to upgrade your aerial. In my case the digital transmitter was in a different place to the analogue, so we needed to move the aerial too.

It sounds stupid, but get a cheap £5 aerial from Argos, they work wonders for every Digi box i've come across! lol
My last one managed to pick up 87 channels!!!
Good luck ;-)

The problem here is the ariel. I assume you are using an external ariel, you will need to upgrade it. Where you get an upgrade I'm not sure.
