Ofcourse every religion is preaching the importance of fasting and specifies the time too. For Christians jusr before Easter Sunday, Muslims during the month of Ramadhan, etc.

What is the meaning of fasting?
Search for the truth with the faith's Holy Book/s. Unending Prayers to the Almighty. By keeping complete hungry stomach from dawn to dusk. Consumption of solid, liquid, natural foods stuff either cooked or uncooked are prohibittted that includes natural pure water, intake of any injection advised by the physician. Also total control over the mind, body and tongue is very much needed. No alchohol and Cigarette during the complete period is very much needed, I mean even after breaking the fast one should not use it as the poison or intoxication may damage the following day's fasting.

If any one does everything faithfully during the time of fasting,
God will shower him/her with contended happy life.
