And if so what happened?
I just got to work and am completely convinced I've done it, although I always think this and it's never actually happened!

should be ok as long as you didnt leave the hot bits on the carpet. I bet you didnt leave them on anyway, i always think i've left mine on but i always switch them off on automatic pilot.
i sat on my hair straighteners on holiday and burnt half the skin off my thigh, i still have a big scar across the back of my leg 2 years later so be very careful!!

Yes i do this all the time. The paint is peeling on my dressing table because i always go out and leave them on there. Never had a fire though and mine are really old crap ones that don't have a limited temperature. The longest i have left them on for is 17 hours!

Nope.
I am always convinced that i have left the iron on as it's the last appliance i use before i leave the house!
If you have a complete OCD about this, when you switch them off draw a small tick on your hand in pen to remind you that you did it!

yep ive done it twice! I didnt realise til i got home as i could smell the heat coming from them, they were very very hot but they didnt burn anything as they were on a heat protective mat. Ive read of people who take pictures on there mobile to prove to themselves when they are at work that they have turned there straighteners or whatever off.

My wife thinks this all the time. If I'm not there then she'll run up and down the stairs 3 or 4 times to check they're off before leaving for work.
If I'm there then its my job to check they're off.
Its verging on obbsessive compulsive!

I have. Nothing happened, but I left them on the counter. If you left them on a towel or left them near a can of something flammable, say like hair spray or some other aerosol can, you may want to run home if you can.

every time i use them and am driving out my village i convince my self I've left them on and have to turn back to check i drive my family mad with it, although only once have they actually been left on, i also do this with the iron think i may have ocd

i leave mine on all the time. In my bathroom when you turn off the light the outlets go off too. sometimes i for get to turn the hair straightners off but the lights get shut off. then when my sister the bathroom hog comes in she turns the light and never shuts it off. one time she burned 3 fingers. thank god nothing worse has ever happenend. except once I left the iron (for clothes but i set it on low and straighten my air when i am in a hurry) on and my sister knocked it off the dresser and didnt pick it up and it melted my carpet.

Left them on my boyfriends pillow, as usual, he's picked them up presuming theu have been turned off (like I normally do) and they're not, I think you can figure out the rest of the story!
