I tried the Tesco Diets hompage, and ran up a "suggested weekly shop". The bill came to £270 for the week!
I could have lost a lot of weight in the wallet department!

Look, all you need to do to lose weight safely and keep it off is eat sensibly, and in moderation. Those low-fat ready-made meals are a bit of a con as they include preservatives to keep them looking nice, but as regards nutritional value, well ... you end up eating more just to get the nutrients you need. Just eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, preferably raw, add fresh herbs wherever you can - not only are they good for you but they also improve the flavour of the dishes - eat lean meat, and cut out anything with wheat in it for a few days, reintroduce it gradually. Doing the same for dairy is also beneficial.
Learn to cook from scratch, it's not hard, make your own pasta sauces and salad dressings (then you eliminate extra salt and sugar that doesn't do you any good), try things like quinoa and different types of rice (couscous and bulgur are good but they are also wheat, so be finicky about them). What I think are really bad for one are these soft drinks like coca-cola and fanta, I don't drink them, not even the sugar-free versions, because my body does not like them ... You can still enjoy your cakes, sweets and chocolate, but you must discipline yourself to take this in moderation and keep them as treats only.
You don't have to be hungry in order to lose weight. It's just a matter of cutting out certain foods, and being firm with yourself. It's not a period to time when you 'deny' yourself, you need to adjust your thinking with regard to food and eventually change your mindset. There is no other way, but once you've established this for yourself, there will be no going back either, and the weight will be under your control.
