Does anybody know if you can serve in the military or attend college Army ROTC and have fibromyalgia, aka chronic fatigue syndrome? One of the effects of it is headaches all the time, chronic migraines every now and then. Aches in the joint and constant tiredness isn't really an issue.

Thanks!

It might be a problem.

You can certainly attend the basic (lower division) ROTC classes. You won't advance to the upper division program if you don't pass a commissioning physical, however.

A lot depends on how bad it is.

I've been battling Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for 4 years now and when I got this system I was probably at the lowest point of my life. I had no energy at all and was in constant pain. I hated myself and hated the doctors who all shrugged it off and told me I just needed to take it easy or that I simply needed to have proper sleep!

This have completely changed my life. Barely 3 weeks on this system, and my brain fog and headaches are gone completely! I can now also manage to go for a 20 minute brisk walk without feeling exhausted.

The way the military is today, I think they would take an 80 year old man if he could still walk, talk and could see. They are desperate for soldiers. I don't see where your Fibromyalgia would cause them not to take you in. You need to decide your self if you think your able to handle the military. Once your in your in. Put yourself in a training schedule such as the military would and see how your body holds up, if you do ok then go for it.

I know this isn't what you were asking but try this:

For you or whoever is having CFS -

For the next 3 to 5 days, drink 5 to 10 glasses of water through out the day. Do this, and I bet most of the symptoms clear up or become very minimal within the week.

What do you have to lose, nothing but the CFS.

Your body is telling you it is very, very dehydrated.

just to let you know chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia are not the same thing. it is common to have cfs with fibromyalgia but you can have one and not the other.
