First of all u need to vaccum your carpet really good then take the bag or cannister outside and dump it, do not leave in the vaccum as the fleas will use it to breed and just give u more fleas.

Second spread a sevin dust all over ur carpet and leave on for a couple hours. Just put this on like u would a carpet fresh, this stuff is safe to use and it can be found at walmart or a farm supply store for only about 5.00 for a 2 lb. bag

third, you need to treat ur dogs, if u do not treat them u will continue fighting fleas because the dogs will just keep bringing them in.

four, treat ur yard with the sevin dust also, like i said it is safe to use and just leave it on your yard, it will kill other insects also. GOOD LUCK

The easiest way is to throw out the carpet.

No seriously what you need is BORAC Acid you can get at any drug store. Its a powder and when you pour it on the carpet and vacuum it up it has sharp edges to it and it is the ONLY thing I have found that can and will kill every stage of Flea development because it shreds them to pieces. It usually works the 1st or 2nd time after that keep the fleas of fido. hope that helps.

Some vets offices have something that you can spray on it. I think that a good steam cleaning will help and pick up the throw rugs and wash them, fleas hide under them. Then steam clean every so often, and give your pet a bath along with vet treatment.

Tea tree oil only 4 to 5 drops and water mix together in spray bottle and spray carpet, furniture and anything that is cloth. It won't stain your carpet or furniture or cloth, it's all natural and safe to use around children and pets. It comes in a bottle from walmart and is in the vitamin section. You can spray it on your pets, kids and self. great bug spray, disinfectant, and antifungal.

whip out the vaccum cleaner!
There are sprays/poweders that you can spray on the carpet before hand to make sure they are dead and wait a while and then vaccum the little suckers up.
You can try using a fogger too. Sometimes that's easier because it's a bit more effective.

if you still have the pets, get advantage or revoloution flea drops from the vet and put them on the pet as directed, in a few weeks the ones in the carpet will die too. great stuff.

First of all u should inspect / wash the flee bitten Hound! Sprinkle the carpet with one of the innumerable domestice animal powders on the market for such occassions and give it a good hoover. On occassion hang the carpet on a line outside and let it air for a few hours. If all else fails - shoot the god damned dog!
