Wow. Just so you know, women are not allowed in any combat roles in the US military (Thats Army, Navy, Marines & Air Force). None. They can operate combat support roles but there are no women in any combat division like the infantry or anything of that sort.
But Women are allowed in combat roles in the Coast Guard & the Coast Guard only.

As you know there isn't any draft in the US; currently. But if you are interested in the complete answer regarding women in the draft pull up 2 bills that have been introduced into both the House and the Senate every year since 2003.
HR 164
S 89
Both are titled the Universal Service Act and require ALL US citizens between the ages of 18-26. Also, those not selected for military duty will be selected to do at least 2 years of national service as a civilian.
Both were introduced by Democrats.....how odd...but have hot been passed.

You did not specify which country you are referring to.There are quite a few countries that require women to serve in their military. Some do place them in direct combat roles.
Are you referring to the United States? Military Conscription (the Draft) was eliminated during the administration of President Carter back in the 1970's. Women have always been permitted to serve in the U S Armed Forces , and do so with distinction, but are barred from serving in units that have a direct combat role such as Infantry, or Armor. There are however instances where women do find them self in a combat situation such as truck drivers and helicopter pilots.
When "the draft" was in effect women weren't called .That is because we American men are kinda old fashioned. We would rather see a woman's body parts, if I may be slightly crude, "in the bedroom" and not on the battlefield.

When a draft occurs, those drafted don't necessarily end up doing combat duty, but I bet a majority do, since the only reason drafts are instituted is to attain more ground soldiers.

It is not presently an issue, as nobody is being drafted, nor has been for years, nor is likely to be anytime in the foreseeable future: the kind of people that the military needs are not folks who, with a little training, can tote a rifle -- is is people who can use, deploy, and maintain the specialized weapons of modern warfare, and you can't either get or keep that kind of people with a draft.

I was amazed to see a beautifull women get into the cockpit (sorry the pun) of a huge transport plane, and she was THE PILOT !!

In what country are you talking about? I live in the U.S. and we have no draft at this time. But I think they draft teen girls for terrorist duty in the middle east.

Yep, or any place they want to ship them. A woman is treated as a military personal. Women must leave their husband and children and go any place they are ordered to go.
