I've noticed this also.
All I can say is, I'd like to see these ignorant people attempting to converse in a foreign language.
Its a shame, because unnecessary criticism could discourage English language students from using this source.
I think its pure ignorance to make disparaging comments, BUT I do think it a good idea to politely correct some errors. I have a German friend learning English who appreciates being corrected, in a nice way.

I don't think they make fun, but it gets a little difficult when someone sends a question and the question makes no sense or is impossible to decipher. There is no question that people who are fluent do flaunt their dialect or slang and have an advantage. Those who are not fluent should take classes in ESL. Then, they will feel more confident.

you got that right. i answered a very concerned question earlier and red what others opinions are. and boy did she get bashed and called stupid for doing shortcut on her writing? i find it offensive that just because she's bi langual they criticized her and said she should go to school and learn english. that's just pure hatefulness. it doesn't occur to other people that english is not the only language the most important. yes, you need english here, that's why they try. i'd like to hear them trying to speak or write other language.

Those people who ridicule second language users do so to make themselves feel superior.
Let them get on with it, it is the only chance they have. You have the advantage of speaking more than one language.

You're right. Those who make fun of those for whom English is not the first language only know one language, and that is fractured English.

I don't know but that bugs me too. It's pretty easy to tell the difference between the people who are struggling with the language and those who are just lazy spellers.

And have you also noticed that often the criticizers also can't spell?? its just ignorance, that makes people so rude about others, and also, some people like to get reactions - just like yours......so I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, just concentrate on the genuine people.....

They might be a little jealous that others speak second languages and the don't. And what they speak is not even a language you can understand.
