The needles used in sugery are either straight, curved, half curved or compound curved needles. The sutures used are either absorbable type or non-absorbable. The absorbable type could be made from cow intestine or synthetic and just absorbed naturally. The non-absorbable are made of raw silk,cotton,or stainless steel as the natural components. The synthetic non-absorbable are out of nylon, polyster,polypropylene and amongst others. The non-absorbable are to be removed in about a less or more or less depending on the type and site of the sutured wound.
The use of staple wires in place of sutures also became common recently.

Sharp tipped curved thin needles made of steel, and non absorbable suture material like nylon. Sutures have to be removed after a week.
