DON'T CONFUSE "PEKING DUCK" with "PEKIN DUCK" The difference is...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The breed of duck is actually called "Pekin", and is a domestic duck. All Domestic ducks, including Pekin ducks descend and were bred from the mallard duck (except for the Muscovy which is different genetically and originated in Central + South America). The Pekin was brought to America from China in the 1870's.

The food or dish is called "Peking Duck" as prepared in a restaurant, or "Long Island Duckling" when purchased at a market.
