As religions go, it is no worse than most -- and no better. I spent five years in Saudi Arabia, read two different versions of the Qur'an (in translation -- my Arabic is nowhere good enough to handle the original), read numerous supporting books and pamphlets, and attended a number of novice classes, so I know more than a bit about it. When reading the Qur'an, I was particularly on the lookout for things that could be validated -- or invalidated -- on scientific grounds, because I am an expert in the field. I found no such thing. However, I did discover sociological grounds for concluding that Islam was erroneous -- the principal such being the prohibition of interest. This cannot be justified on any economic grounds, and has the singularly bad effect of diluting, throughout the entire society, the importance of doing things sooner rather than later. (There are some other minor issues as well.)
One of the supporting materials that I read was a book purporting to be scientific proofs of the validity of the Qur'an. The book is garbage: there is nothing in it which a scientist of any repute would consider to be evidence of anything; parts of it are simply wrong.
But my personal objection to Islam is the idea that I cannot know how to live my life based on my own conclusions: the notion that I have to defer my judgment in favor of any book is not acceptable. I am like Iblis: I do not bow down.

Islam was the attraction that the thinking people developed towards an ideal free from superstition upholding the worship of the ‘One and Only God’, the Creator and the pursuit of His messengers. It was only natural for those thinking people to be drawn to the practice of a faith that sought the path of ‘surrender to God’, at a time when their perceptions were fogged by false deities, and their agents who posed as priests. The ideal of ‘One God, one humanity’, simultaneously put forth by Islam, uproots the parochial beliefs put up in the name of ones birth. The access to the message of ‘one humanity’ experienced by those who were being oppressed in the name of religion and caste, further led to the propagation of Islam. The selfless and sincere lives led by Muslims who migrated different parts of the world for business purposes and the like, also drew the people of those countries to Islam

A lot of non-Muslims see Islam as synonymous with terrorism. I understand that only the fanatical radicals are involved in that, but I have read that the Quran instructs that infidels should be killed. If that is true, Islam should be banned here in the US and all practitioners deported. I believe Islam, as well as all other religions are man-made nonsense, but Islam is clearly a very dangerous cult that may have to be eradicated.

You know that you're question will be met with ridicule and insult from Khaffirs (disbelievers) who hate our religion very much just because some undesirable extremists defile it.
I'm a Muslim convert, Islam taught me to focus on God and all things which are good and to totally reject all which is evil.
If it wasn't for Islam, I would have killed the murderers of my grandparents while I was still a Roman Catholic Christian.
I was Catholic for 33 years and witnessed the murder of my grandparents from passive involuntary euthanasia initiated by their sons and daughters (my mother was on of the murderers).
The Muslims who taught me about Islam didn't teach me to strap bombs on my body and blow up those SOBs to hell.
So, to the people here who insult and ridicule Islam, look at your own backyard first before you throw your S-H-I-T at us. I can dig up more S-H-I-T that will shame the Christians even more. Let's start by calling Timothy McVeigh a Chrisitan extremist terrorist. I'll bet Christians would not like that, would they?
Bring it on.

Thank you for this question.
Although you may find this surprising, the words "Islam" or "Muslim" as they are used in the Quran do not refer to the religion as it is known today. They are used to refer to those who submit to the will of God. The peace in your heart that naturally comes from your own will and intention aligning with that of God.
So, in our faith, the prophets are all Muslims, in the etymological sense of the word, in that they did submit to God's will and delivered God's message to the people. Similarly, the "people of the book" ie Jews and Christians, were practicing Islam in the form it was given to them. Until humans changed the divine scriptures that they had.
And by the way, Iblis did not bow down, yes, but it was Adam that he did not bow down to. And his reason was that he felt that even though God was ordering him to do so, he was so devoted to God that he did not want to bow down to any other before Him. So Iblis DID bow down, but only to God.
Metaphorically speaking this is a lesson for all of us when we bow down to our human desires and think that we "know it all" rather than understanding that we are really servants of God.
Peace and Blessings
Salim

Islam is the Qu'ran.
The Qu'ran is a book of violence, opression and intolerance.
Its had thousands of years to be twisted by the people of the middle east. Now....... its a pathetic excuse for butchery.
Its a pity.
I suspect its writers wanted a bit more.

it all depends on each of our's point of view. if u practise it you know, Islam is for you. if u like being brain-washed by the media and extremists, then Islam is not for you. people will never know the thruth until they want to know it and until they strive to get to know. for blind followers of the media, well its their choice and wish.

Islam people or their religion, two different things..
For religion I think they trusted in Muhammad and think Jesus also was just a prophet. They still believe in God, don't accept Jesus as God, or even the Son of God.
They are good at speaking peace, but bombing and hurting there own race............but yet they are religious
Bombs and Bloodshed
