Start doing the same, whenever he's around. That should fix him.

Well you could change the locks on the house when he's out and then he would be spitting just at your front door. Really it sounds like some kind of a disorder. When my father was a kid he had a neighbor who used to piss against his (own) house when he came home from work. If he'd just waited for ten seconds he could have used the bathroom but he pissed against the house everyday when he came home from work. Somewhat like a dog. If your hubby says he can only spit at home he must know it's not quite normal or else he would do it anywhere. Good luck solving this matter.

Basic Training of the Puppy - Read here https://tr.im/7q5sH
The new puppy is certainly one of the most adorable and cuddly creatures that has ever been created. It is the most natural thing in the world to shower it with love and affection. However, at the same time it is important to realize that if you want to have a well trained adult dog, you need to begin the training process right away. The dog, like its related ancestor, the wolf, is a pack animal. One of the features of a pack is that it has a single dominant leader. Your new puppy is going to want that leader to be you, but if you do not assume that role from the very beginning, the puppy’s instincts will push him to become the leader.
The most important thing to remember about training the puppy during its first six months of life is that it must see you as the leader of the family pack. The essential thing is gaining the trust and the respect of the puppy from the beginning. You will not do this by allowing the puppy to do whatever it wants to do whenever it wants to do it. On the other hand, a certain amount of patience is required. Most people err in their early training by going to extremes one way or the other. Although you need to begin the basic training process at once, you can not expect your dog to do too much at first. Basic obedience training is fine and should include simple commands like sit, stay, and come. Remember that trying to teach the dog advanced obedience techniques when it is a puppy is much like trying to teach a five year old child algebra.
It is also important to restrain from cruel or abusive treatment of the puppy. You can not beat obedience into your dog, and it certainly is not going to engender feeling of respect and trust. House breaking is an area where this usually becomes a problem because of the anger that is triggered when the puppy fails and creates a mess inside the home. Although this issue must be addressed without anger, it most be addressed. If you allow the puppy to eliminate inside the house, it will continue to do so as an adult dog. The same thing is true of other destructive or dangerous behavior such as chewing and biting. Do not expect the puppy to grow out of it. You are going to need to train the puppy out of it, but you should do so firmly but with a sense of play and fun using positive reinforcement and lots of love and praise for good behavior.

Eew..that's just unsanitary. I'd be seriously bugged by that habit as well.
Explain your feelings to him again and try to reach a agreement for a place for him to spit and maybe buy him a few spittoons. A spittoon is a special bowl made for spitters who chew tobacco but it would work in this case, suggest for him make it a game for him to hit the spittoon. Maybe that will at least keep him spitting in a certain place instead of all over the house. Yuk! It takes time to culture new habits. I hope he cleans up after his spitting mess???
If this doesn't work make the pig leave

That is truly gross. I simply cannot understand why people spit at all. The only time I ever spit is when I brush my teeth!
Provide him with a spitoon, ask him to use the toilet or garden, or - better still - chuck him out into the garden shed or somewhere like an animal and feed him in a dog's bowl. If he acts like an animal, treat him like one.
I am just SO sorry for you, but something has to give. You can't go on like this anymore.

Where did he grow up~Hickville USA??? Tell the bonehead to get an empty soda can, empty 2liter soda bottle or a bucket to spit in. I hear sinks & toilets work pretty well too. Then when it is full, you'll probably have to tell him to either dump it down the sink or the toilet. Unless of course he'd prefer it emptied on his side of the bed. I know a few people who chew tobacco, & every single one of them are capable of spitting into the above mentioned items. Unless he has no lips, he might be able to do the same.

My hubby has the same habbit but he just spits on the floor ,or ground outside ,,, sometimes it can be embarrassing in front of other people so i know how you feel. It is not just a habbit though it is more of a nervous tick,One thing you can do is give him a tissue, and tell him to spit in it ,,, keep giving him tissues and tell him ,,,here this is in case you have to spit . If worse comes to worse you may just have to snap on him in front of someone else to plain out embarrass him . Also i have noticed with my hubby is that if hes chewing gum he doesnt spit ,,so offer him gum if your going out in public or if your having guests over ,,, good luck

That's really disgusting. I feel for you. I don't know what you can do to make him change. You could mention that there are sinks and toilets in the house for him to spit in. Buy some paper cups and ask him to carry one around with him to spit in. I don't know what kind of action you're talking about. I'm afraid I'd lose my temper and we'd see some kind of action! I'm not condoning temper losing though. You've said you've asked him "nicely". Have you just told him how disgusting and repulsive it is to you? Maybe if he knows just how nasty he looks to you, he'll try to change his ways.

Spit on him, or hit him with a rolled up newspaper. Just playing, seriously though, you need to be firm with him. Tell him that until he stops, or at least spits in a can, that you will not.....(sex, cleaning, cooking (other than for yourself), laundry, etc..anything that you do for him that he won't do.) And stick to it. If he's not getting something that he normally gets, maybe he'll stop acting like a child, and more like an adult.
