You can't..He will never be happy outside, since he was raised indoors, he won't adjust to being outside... He may quiet down, but he won't be content..

.. dogs do not train themselves, much to our dismay, but have to be potty trained...Peeing on your bed is a sign of insecurity..showing that he is trying to cover his scent with yours, as you are his protector..He likely had a bad dream or was frightened by a noise, so he peed where the boogyman couldn't find him by his scent..
Anyway, I have never met a dog that could not be potty trained..it only takes a routine, and patience..
If you want help potty training him, just email me.

Small? How small are you talking about? I hate small dog's. But, I'll tell you some thing's. Little dog's have small bladder's. It doesn't take long for the dog to go to bathroom again. You have to constantly let the dog outside. Or take the dog out on a leash or whatever. If you work with the dog he will stop peeing in the house. Plus, Feed your dog at a certain time of the day like Morning and Midday and nearly night time which i bet you do that anyways. It also depends on how old the dog is. he may not be housebroken yet. Well if he's not well you will have to take him out every other hour.

well there are a few things that you can do as an alternative to making him an outside dog, they are all gonna take patience and consistency though, one ,if it is a small breed dog it is not recommended that he be outdoors all the time. there is a technique called crate training which works well, some people find this to be cruel, but it does work to protect not only your bed from being peed on ,but also from little things that could happen when you are not home. then the other way is to get your dog on your schedule feed him when you are there, when you are done take away the food wait about 20 min then take him outside and do not talk or play with him till he does his business then praise , maybe a treat , this may take a while to work but with anything consistency is the key ,if crate training is something you are interested in you may e-mail me and I can get you the info on it mnangel867@yahoo.com

It sounds like you have to train him better -not just leave him outside. Look into some obedience places or something if he is not listening to you. Small breeds just don't go anywhere so this was obviously a problem with his training to bark when he needs to go - it is not right to punish him by leaving him outside.

If he does go inside, you are supposed to say no no!! and then take him outside and by the door or something imitate a bark to him so he starts to understand - this is how they learn to go to the door and bark. Initially they are supposed to be crate trained so they won't make a mess of their own little place - then they do start to bark to go out. Try to find a way to get him trained - the longer it goes on , the harder it will be so the sooner the better. Small breeds are not meant to be kept outside - at all. No dog should always be outside. If you can't properly care for him or train him, give him to someone who will or pay for some training and obedience lessons.

You don't say how old your dog is. I assume he is still young. I wish I could help with the inside thing, but peeing on the bed need's lots of help! Unless... your dog is a young puppy? If he is a young pup and you put him on the bed without him having a sure place that he knows of to go potty then it's your fault. As far as the back yard, you need to hang out in the back yard with him, play catch, sit in a chair and hang out with a friend , etc. in the backyard, so he doesn't think of it as banishment. If he see's you hanging out there, he won't mind it so much.

Either take the time to train this poor dog or get rid of him and make sure that the next owners will take better care of the dog! throwing him outside is the worse thing that you can do to a dog!

Introduce him gradually to being left outside. You brought this problem on to yourself by not properly training your dog to do its business outside. Now it's an uphill battle to make him behave properly. All I can say is stay out with him a few minutes at a time.Leave the door open so he feels safe.Gradually increase the time he stays out & decrease the time you stay out with him. This will not happen overnight so patience on your part is needed.

make sure there is a shaded place for him to be with water and lots of toys to play with to.
sit out side with him until you can leave him all alone for an hour or so.
this will start to teach him it's OK to be out side without you.
keep doing this each and every day.
and then add a little more time to it as you go along and then he will be happy dog out side.
good luck

See you supposed to train him since he was real small. How??
Out paper where you wanted him to poop! Then everytime he pooped someplace else, takehim where the paper is, and get his nose real closed! Telling him NO! NO! He'll get the picture!! later he'LL want to go outside and poop!

Start it when he's only a puppy. He'll cry for only 1 or 2 days.
