Everytime there is something wrong with our relationship I threaten to leave, but what i've noticed is that this makes her realize how much I mean to her and it always fixes the problem. I still don't know why i always do it, maybe subconsiouslly i'm not as happy as I think I am. Does anybody relate?

Don't make it a habit, your description suggests that you're making your partner adjust and fix things time and again. Once it develops as a habit in you...you start treating your partner like the one in need.

If you really care for this relationship, think twice or thrice before threatening to leave...it you don't leave politely.

I sometimes say that when I feel hurt. It's some sort of a "self-defence" mechanism I guess - "Gotta leave him before he leaves me"... I think you've taken the first step by realizing that you do this... The second step is to start preventing yourself from doing it. When you're in a fight and about to say it, stop yourself. Simply ban yourself from saying those words.
You would know if you truly were unhappy, this is just your way of dealing with feeling hurt.

well that's good, now that you also know how much she values you and how much important you are to her. but if i were the girl i will just say: ! GO AHEAD & LEAVEEEEE!!!!
Now lets assume that you left....

Are you happy now?

can you bear it being alone?

if so, until when?

wouldn't you miss her?

wouldn't you miss all those funny stuff only both of you are doing together?

or may be you will realize how important she is to you?

now, CAN YOU RELATE?

If it takes you threatening to leave for her to realize how much you mean to her-------- do you really mean that much? She should ALWAYS know how much you mean to her.

No, sorry, I don't relate. But maybe you aren't as happy. Or maybe you just like tempting fate.

You're turning your girlfriend into your personal pet slave. Pretty soon, you'd have sucked all the energy out of her and she'll do anything just to stay with you.

dont do that to you or her, if things are so bad that you think you might leave then maybe you do need to leave, dont string her along either cause she might be just saying things are ok cause she loves you, when really things arent ok

if you know that you are not happy, and you have that many problems then maybe you should get out while you can.

No, sounds like a silly love game. If she only appreciates you when your gone, then she probably only wants to string you along, but if your doing this to make yourself seem appreciated to her, your playing with fire and gonna get burned.
