1. Look in the Yellow Pages under 'music lessons - vocal'.
2. If no one is listed, call other music teachers that ARE listed and ask them who they know. Music teachers know music teachers.
3. Call your music stores and ask them.
4. Call your African American Churches [if you know those with good music programs, these would be the best choice] and ask them.

Your local musical instrument store is a great place to check. These stores often have private teachers as well as workshops. I took classical voice for 6 years, also sang gospel an jazz. Had an exemplary teacher who taught me how to sight read. Lessons are a little pricey, but worth the investment if you are serious about learning.

Ask the churches in your area if they know of any music teacher that gives voice lessons in their congregation. Also check out the music stores in the area. I sing for a "Sweet Adeline" group, and I have recommended our music director to help a young girl with her vocals. So check on the Internet on a sweet Adeline group near you.
