Yes, why not?
We will like people who have the same views and values as us, no matter where we get to know them! Why should the internet be different?
The difference in just communicating over the phone is that we do not get to see the body language and the facial expressions. Therefore, we will not be able to tell whether that person is sincere or just saying things to please you.

absolutely-----if you internet date...you chat first, the next step for me is to get them on the phone and than to meet face to face. The quicker these 3 steps happen, the better. I feel.

YOu could... but when you meet them in real life you might come to realize that that is not what you had in mind. I could be mistaken, there are exceptions... but most of the time... huge disappointment.
