There are a couple of methods to get scholarships and grants. However, for a few of them, it will take research, filling out applications, and sending them.
FAFSA.ed.gov will tap you into the federal government aid and some school assistance. It is based on parental income and family resources.
High school guidance office has a list of local scholarships available to its students. It sometimes has information for specific college scholarships to a particular school.
There are internet websites with lists of scholarships and grants. There are two fantastic free websites with one having a lot of information on it which is Fastweb.com. The other is Brokescholars.com which I do not know much about it, but it lists a lot of different scholarships.
When applying for a scholarship pay attention to the details on the website including the philosophy of the group granting it. Many of the scholarships depend on what is on the application and often the essay provided by the student. It is an idea to provide an essay that is relevant about the group but provides some valuable insights on the topic provided by yourself.
The only downside to any of these items is that it takes time to hear from them once the application is sent. It is an idea to pay attention to the deadlines and sent the application in well before the deadline happens.
