I'm a firm beliver in spanking. Sometimes, your kids just need a swat to the butt. For my kids (they're 10 and 8) it's an embarrassment more than anything. If we're out in public and my kid starts acting like some barn raised heathen after being told to settle down, he's getting a swat to the butt. To quote Bernie Mac "I'll kick a kid's ***." LOL
I was spanked as a child, my parents were spanked as children, my grandparents were spanked as children. My grandfather has told me stories about how when he was a kid his dad would make him cut his own switch from the tree outside. He said that was worse than getting the spanking because he knew that he had to pick a "good one" and that if he didn't, he'd just get another spanking. He was basically dooming himself. lol
Not a one of us is abusive. So I don't think that giving my kid a spanking is going to make him a wife beater. In fact, I think that there'd be less brats in the world if more people would spank their kids. Ever see SuperNanny? Boy I want to whoop those kids. ;D

NO. It is really no one else's business if someone spanks their kids or not. If spankings were outlawed, the courts would be even more backed up than they are now, because the kids that don't get a pop on the butt once in a while will turn out to be totally uncontrolable.

If your child knows right from wrong and u got to keep telling them over and over they should get spanked. Just talking to a child or time out dont help. Kids these days think they grown. I think it is stupid that if u spank your child its child abuse. Every one when my child gets older b/c he is just a baby right now but when he gets old enough to talk back and understand he is gonna know what a spanking is. So if anyone has a problem with that oh well!

No. While I think it is best to try other disciplinary actions first, some kids just don't respond to anything other than a spanking. (a spanking, NOT a beating). I was one of those kids who needed to be popped on my a*s to listen. My daughter is the same way. Nothing else worked. Not only that, but my dad was the one who spanked me, my mother never did, and now that I've grown up I am very close to my dad, but not my mom. So it won't make your kids hate you all their life.

In my opinion, no. To a certain exstent. A spaking is ok if the parent and only the parent doesn't get to carried away in doing it. Bruses are a big no no to me and anything other than a belt or hand on the behind should be illegal, wich where I live it is. All in all my opinion to your question is no it shouldn't be outlawed if the parent is responsible when talking the action.

well i believe not cause it guilds the child to know that the parent is in charge, not them. And you wouldn't want that wen u say ur gonna do something to punish them, they go "oh please, u ain't gonna do nothing." You want them to noe that ur in charge. But i don't agree with beating the CaCa out of ur children. no 3 year old should be getting serious beatings by a belt that makes them turn red. Like that's just not rite. and besides, if u do that, ur child is gonna grow up a tough rebel, but not in a good way. they'll listen to u and since they're tough, hitting them with a belt mite not work on them anymore. they mite turn around and start hitting u wit a belt and u wouldn't want that now would u? too much discipline may end with bad parent-child relationships, and that's no good.

In SA you are not allowed to spank a child, it is even banned in schools. If you as a parent spank you kid he/she can call a child-helpline and report you. I DO NOT agree with it, I believe a child should still be given a good spanking (on his bum) if necessary.

no way, but it's already illegal, its considered child abuse. I mean as long as the parent/guardian isn't angry at the time of the spanking haha, well why not?? I mean it does say in the bible to spank your children when they are bad, annd I think that's a good thing annd it works

i wonder if these people who say yes have ever had children, been around a outrageous child,or ever even been around a child. everyone who has a brain knows a pop on the butt is the only way to keep kids under controll sometimes. i am sorry if a kid mouths off im not gunna sit him in a f'in corner and tell him to think about it.. there is nothing learned by this. im sorry if my kid pops off im gunna smack him in the butt. not hard just a little swat. not enough to leave a mark just enough to show him who is boss.

I think that I understand your point of view. Most kids respond well to being told that you are disappointed in them. That is crushing to them and a wake-up call that gets them to straighten up and fly right. Those types of children are called "Sensitives". They are not abundant. This means that most children approx. 80% or so need physical punishment to get their attention. I've lived with many children that DID NOT respond at all to ANY kind of verbal punishment, taking away of items, grounding, etc
