You should see the movie PATCH ADAMS. It has demonstated a lot of what you are asking about. =)
Laughter is, if not atleast one of, the best medicine. It heals the immune system, lowers the blood pressure and enhances the memory power... which opposite of these are normally the root cause of most illnesses. Besides that, a hearty laugh can help reduce stress, elevate the mood, relax the body and it also reduces ulcer and heart problems.
And for those who want to lose weight, there is good news; laughter helps you lose weight because laughing for an hour makes you actually lose 500 kilos.
So whatever happens, sick or not, we should always try to laugh and be happy in life. Happy life is a healthy life. =)

Yes. I heard about an editor, Norman Cousins, who had an incurable disease. He watched funny sitcoms every day, took megadoses of Vitamin C and was cured. He lived to be 75, even though normally he would have died at a much younger age. Check out his story online. Don't underestimate the value of laughter.

Laughter uses a lot of facial muscles. Thereby you relax the muscles and when you laugh, tension and anxiety are lessened. That's the reason they laughter is the best medicine.

Of course, it is...

Laughter is a stress buster and it also relates & connects people. If you could make somebody laugh even by laughing at yourself you are serving humanity in a big way.

yes oh yes. i can agree on that. i find that when i am depressed or even sick of dealing with this chronic illness i battle with my kids will somehow tell a joke and i would bust up laughing and you know it would actually make me feel better. even when i am watching comedy it will make me feel betterl. you use less muscles smiling than you do frowning and it is like you just relax your muscles and nerves when you laugh releasing the stress
