could that be considered the apocolypse?

i have recently read that the ancient mayan calander was coming to an end and this could be translated as the end of the world.

The Mayans had a very unique way of measuring time, and the way they measured it in daily life is called the Long Count. Today's date in Long Count is 12.19.13.11.9. It's very similar to our system, except ours only has 3 counters: year.month.day. The other weird thing is that each part of the Mayan date has a limit - similar to how our month has a limit of 12.
Here's how it works:

1 K'in = 1 day
20 K'in = 1 Uinal
18 Uinal = 1 Tun
20 Tun = 1 K'atun
20 K'atun = 1 B'ak'tun

So since today is 12.19.13.11.9, tomorrow is 12.19.13.11.10. Then, 9 days later, it will be 12.19.13.11.19, and the next day will be 12.19.13.12.0, and it continues on in that fashion.

The reason 2012 is special is because during that year, the date 13.0.0.0.0 will roll around. The Mayans believed that 13.0.0.0.0 marked the end of an age. Now, many new-age books and writers have said that this means they Mayans believed an apocalypse will occur on that date. However, the Long Count is actually an abbreviation: the number of "places" could be infinite, and indeed, the Mayan "Coba" monument actually describes the date of the end of creation as 13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.0.0.0.0. We are only on 0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.13.0.0.0.0, so we have a ways to go before the end of the world.

Further proof is found in an archaeological Mayan site named Palenque. In that site, dates are projected up to 1.0.0.0.0.0, which will occur on October 13, 4772. Clearly the Mayans did not believe the end of the world would occur in 2012, but crazy people would have you believe otherwise.

First of all, calm down. Nothing's going to happen. Don't you think that if something were really going to happen in only 6 years, everybody would be taking it seriously? I mean, scientists can easily foretell this kind of alleged world wide catastrophe with a lot more than just 6 years of anticipation. And politicians would be thinking of something, if that were true, too.

Besides, how can a calendar come to an end. I mean, after one year, there is always going to be another. So, it's not possible for a calendar to actually end. And even if that weren't impossible, what rational relationship could there be between that and the end of the world?

I know that the whole thing got started because the ancient Mayans for some reason decided to stop their calender on that year. Not sure why they did that, but there's no evidence to suggest that it's because they predicted any sort of apocalypse. People just get carried away.

Supposedly, the Earth is going to shift on its axis, (spin). This
is what I believe Revelation is all about. It is already starting, with
the earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Changing weather
patterns, destroying crops, even cities.
When the shift occurs, everyone will feel it all at once. In the
first few parts of Revelation, it mentions an earthquake so huge
every island and mountain moves out of place.
I feel when billions of people die all at once, it will create a
spiritual power that opens the doors to other realities. Isaiah 24.
Evil will have its way with us for a time. And eventually, God
will put a stop to it.

No, but I do know that the fist manned mission to mars is supposed to take place around that time.
