not in introducing, not that men don't need it, but if a woman thinks a man is more 'needy' than she is, she's more apt to run. If you are looking for companionship, that alone is apparent enough to a woman, let the details of how and why come in time afterwards when she is genuinely interested in you and your past. remember, there is no future in the past.

NO MATT.... this is a VERY BAD move. Its about confidence without being a self absorbed horse's tail!! "Very lonely guy" sometimes translates into clingy, needy, stalker. Its ok to be lonely and look for someone, just believe in yourself and good things will happen. Don't be discouraged if you get rejected, that's par for the course, you'll eventually meet someone that you really get along with and connect with.

I know being lonely sucks, and it sucks more to think that that isn't attractive, but it kind of isn't. the truth is, confidence is cool. the more secure you can be in yourself as a single guy, the more attractive you will be to women. the 'lonely guy' thing might get a little pity at least, but it's definitely not the best opening line.

never do that. when u introduce urself u always wana make a good first impression to the other person.
that part of urself can be told after awhile. when u get comfortable enough to share it with that person.

Right. That type of information should be shared a little later in the relationship. You don't want to scare her away.

honesty is always the best policy
if you are lonely
why be afraid to express it?
try and have one thing you can tell her you are doing to work on it and ask her if she would like to join you in that
any move is good as long as you are sincere

I wouldn't suggest using that for an opener. In fact...maybe it should be left completely out of the conversation. lol

How about, "I'm a very selective guy - which means I'm alone but not lonely."

yes it is a bad move because if you are lonely, it means you don't date much. if you don't date much, there must be something wrong with you.
