Why Do Golf Commentators Whisper

2017-01-16 09:53:20 · answer #2 · answered by wexler 4 · 0 0

The ones that are whispering are 9 times out of 10, the announcers that are actually on the golf course itself near the players, not the ones in the booth. There's usually 1 announcer that follows the big name groups around, and in some cases just one per hole.

Golf is actually a political ploy. It's televised with the intention of keeping most of America fast asleep in their Lazy-Boy heater/vibrator power operated lounge chairs and, of course, having a sleep inducing, whispering announcer calling the putt by putt lack-of-action is just part of design to make the whole gig effective.

The entire idea was originated by Hillary Clinton way, way back when she was still in grade school. In fact, the first TV coverage of the British Open was the result of a tantrum she threw demanding that her daddy pay for and organize the whole deal as a Christmas gift to her at the age of six, and now she's hopping to capitalize on the scam during the next presidential election.

It's been speculated that the ploy might have succeeded without a hitch if Yahoo Answers hadn't become so popular... There's been no doubt that this question was a shoe-in to be asked by an eventual inquiring mind, (like yours,) and, as you see, the cat's finally let out of the bag.

So... for doing your country the service of making Hillary look as bad as she truly is, I thank you for asking this question... and, it goes without saying, so do Al and Tipper Gore.

Most golf announcers are well within ear shot of the golfer and whisper out of respect for the game. Golf requires tremendous concentration and noise is a distraction. Golf announcers in studio commenting on a TV feed do not whisper.

Because golfers are whiney babies who need complete silence to hit a ball which is not moving, and they don't want to get yelled at by a golfer who makes a bad shot and then blames the announcer for talking.

For the most part the announcers are there near the golfers. There is on the course commentary, where the announcer is standing next to the group of golfers. The ones in the booth, are actually greenside and well within earshot of the golfer's. Epsecially when it is totally silent.

Golf is a "sport" for entitled little pricks. The announcers are ALL dorks, I would love for someone to go up to those morons with a bull-horn & wake those corpses up

its golf etiquette same as in tennis and bowling the announcer would never want to be accused of "spoiling" the shot or return or the attempt to knock down pins...that's why did you know that the acronym for golf meant gentleman only ladies forbidden?

I think they whisper them mainly to make it difficult for us to hear how inane their exchanges are:

Announcer #1: What do you think he's going to do with this shot?
Announcer #2: I think he's going to try to hit the ball into the cup, don't you?
