well if you have a front porch, put a chain acrost the entrance with a no trespassing sign.

if you do not like that, or it looks tacky, simply slam the door in their face. if that does not work, take their information...

and then call the church and nicely ask them to tell their people not to come to your house.

if that does not work

go to their church that sunday dressed in black hooded robes and a giant upside down cross and when they ask you to leave tell them that when they stay off of your property that you will quit visiteing theirs.

WARNING, you may get arrested for this one, so use it as a last resort.

OK... now that my sides have stop hurting from laughing at Waggy's response... the easiest way is to put a "no soliciting" sign on your door. You might also consider contacting the local churches and explain to them that you would rather not have people approach your home.

btw... the pop-up Satan, while the most comical thing i've heard in ages, could theoretically give someone a heart attack... and then you'll have a lot more than just missionaries at your door.

(incidentally, putting a pentagram on your door might dissuade some knockers... but there are some who would only see that as a challenge and would then come in greater numbers... so think carefully before you do that one)

Just don't answer the door. My parents have a mirror that shines in their house so they can see who is at the door. If they see the people dressed up in suits/dresses with books in their hands, they know it's the Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons and they just let them keep ringing and refuse to answer. Eventually they will go away. I am lucky. I live in an apartment building. There is a security system that won't let anybody in the building without a key or buzzing into the intercom of a resident and being let in, so none Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons bother me.

You could put up a sign that says"no soliciting" or just ignore them or just open the door and as soon as they tell you who they are tell them that you are not interested.

A sign reading "No Soliciting"

An ugly latex halloween mask, stuffed on a pole with a sign jammed in the head reading, "Ask me about God"

Post a sign telling them you are not interested and to go away. First of all, be sure you aren't because it may very well mean your life. Jesus and his apostles knocked on doors.

Go to the medical supply store. Buy a large Bio-Hazard Quarantine sign. Mount the sign to your door.

You could always have a knock activated mini Satan that pops up and says 'be gone missionaries otherwise I'll release the rest of the demons.'

Either I don't answer the door or if they catch me out then I say "Religion is a very personal and private thing to me and I prefer not to discuss it." It works like a charm!

dam, send them my way. I am always helping people out. I wish they would come my way. Then I would support them and help them out. I feel bad for people and I take it upon myself to help them out. I did have a bad experience I saw a lady on a front lawn with five black garbage bags of clothes, the bags were tearing. I thought she was walking to the laundry mat, so I pulled over and told her to get in that I would give her a ride. once in she tells me she was the carnival in town and her boyfriend kicked out. she met this guy while working the carnival. she said she needed a bus ticket home. so i spent four hours trying to get her a bus ticket, she was hungry so I fed her. Let her use my cell phone. To make a long story short she ended up having weapons on her and I got scared. Called the police. They came and got her. Later on I kept getting phone calls, from people she called. here it turns out, all those bags were not clothes they were stolen items she stole from people she befriended. She then called them on her cell. By the time she was long gone, they realized she had stolen their things. My mistake for helping someone out. I even gave her money so she could eat if she found a bus ticket. i did not have enough to buy her a bus ticket. anyways. long story short. I feel I have to help people out in need. even if its only a ride or five or ten dollars. OK. no more strangers in my car though ok. you could give them a dollar or something.
