As long as you can prove you are sensitive to the sun - use the umbrella. Kids at school (elementary or high school don't matter) are idiots and look for stuff to make fun of in others all the time - even if they are envious.
SO - if you are going to get made fun of, you may as well go for it. And besides - you might be surprised and no one say anything. They might ask you why you are taking an umbrella to school but nothing more than that.
Do expect some stares - as people are naturally curious and do not intend to be rude. Its no big deal. I mean, haven't you stared at others, out of curiosity with no intention of being rude?

People are going to call you Michael Jackson if you go twirling an umbrella around your high school. Bad idea. I suggest you get some SPF 100 sunscreen (they make this for babies), apply his liberally. Then, go to Sunglass Hut and buy a fashionable pair of sunglasses with complete UV protection/blocking. If you need to, you can wear a hat. You won't look weird and you'll be getting the same, if not more, protection.

Dont worrry what people think. Your health is a huge priority. I go to college and i've seen a lot of people carrying umbrellas because they're either sensitive to the sun or because of their culture. So dont worry about it, just carry it and do what's best for your health.

People in Phoenix carry umbrellas all the time to shade themselves from the sun. Alternatively, wear a cute hat with a brim and wear sunscreen.

Who cares what other people think! Do what ya gotta do. If you've ever been to Chinatown, you'll notice a lot of people walking around with an umbrella to keep the sun off of them. Just do it. I see people do it at school sometimes.

You'd better seek doctor's advice.
If I were you I would look for an umbrella cap (special cap that comes with umbrella).
If the worse comes to worse then the hell with it I just carry an umbrella.
Don't mind what other people thinking. They don't pay your bills.

If carrying an umbrella makes you feel like you're doing the best thing for yourself health-wise, do it.
My son has an anxiety disorder, and he chews on a fish-shaped teething toy to cope with it. Kids make fun of him when he does it at school. But, when he can't chew on it, he feels compelled to eat when he gets anxious. If he did that, he'd put on weight and then they'd make fun of him for being fat, or eating a lot, or something else. There's always something to make fun of, or call you names for... just do what you think works best for you, and ignore what others think.

Who cares what people think, first of all. If they complain, whack'em with your umbrella. If you feel bad after serving up too many butt whuppins, I highly recommend SPF 45 sunscreen and long-sleeve shirts.

You're going to have to face people thinking "weird" about you when you grow up anyway, so why not start now? Builds character.
