Why do most Christians think of atheists as immoral? The bible you follow says no man is without sin, and there isn't a person alive today that doesn't break commandments from time to time, so what makes you more of a moral person than me? I have a conscience, I know right from wrong, and I'm a good person. When I make a mistake or commit a "sin," I realize it and try to better myself and not do it again. Does the fact that I don't bow down and ask for forgiveness from God make me a bad person? I guess I'm just some crazy guy that thinks trying my best to be a good person and not commit sins is a better way to live than wollowing in my guilt and begging for forgiveness everytime I slip up. It seems to me that if God existed he would feel the same way unless he uses the same flawed logic as most of his followers.

Spotsfox: Wow, I couldn't even read that with a straight face, and I really doubt you could write it with one. Atheists are close-minded??? You live your life by a fairytale written thousands of years ago and refuse to even examine the possibility that even a shred of it could be false. While I seek knowledge and understanding by using logic and rational thought to view whats going on around me and form my own opinion. You are right I am definitely close-minded. For you to tell me to do some research on the subject is absurd, I bet you I've read the bible more than you have and I don't even believe the stupid thing!

REGINA: I said "in the bible it says no man is without sin." You say "Nowhere in the bible does it say that" and then say "it says in the bible that we are all sinners." Umm....did I miss something? All I'm asking is why do you and your god think i'm a bad person, I live just as a good of a life as anybody. One more thing, if your going to use a famous quote in your answer, at least quote the person right.

Ok.. I am a Christian, I believe in God! I think you misinterpret the meaning of the motive behind a people who are concerned for the future of your soul. There are good and bad in all religions, just look around at the condition our world is in today. Just don't misinterpret one group because they are only concerned for the souls of their fellow human beings... and yes, nobody is perfect and we all commit sins... being a Christian doesn't mean wallowing in a blanket of guilt for breaking a commandment.. it's the accepting as Jesus Christ into our hearts that he died for our sins, and that in believing in him we can enter the kingdom of heaven and not perish... and if u are trying to be such a "good" person, then why are you bashing one religous group just because you don't agree with the faith? In essence you are doing the exact same thing you're accusing us of! I don't think it's right that there are those who are so aggressive in pushing thier faith down someone elses' throat, or making claims to be better than those who don't follow the same faith... we are all created equal and God loves us all, despite what faith we are, and even whether or not we believe in him... I wish you well and will pray for you to find peace whether you want me to or not!

To Christians, atheists are more of a threat than believers of other religions. The capacity to believe in nonsense allows one to easily transfer that belief to another form of nonsense. So, there's a certain brotherhood of nonsense going on here. Likewise, astrologists and other occultists could one day wake up and realize the ridiculousness of their beliefs and then go looking for a new mythology, which just might be Christianity.
On the other hand, contrary to what many Christians assert, few atheists convert to their way of thinking. It almost always goes the other way. That makes atheism a threat. Christians fear that people might actually start THINKING and that would be, well, disasterous for them, wouldn't it?
They really have nothing to fear, though. There will always be a large herd of sheep in the world who don't wish to do any real self-examination when it comes to something as fundamental as their personal worldview. They'd rather have it handed to them on a silver platter, garnished with promises of an afterlife.

Yes the bible clearly equates believers and non-believers in their worth. Romans says that all have sinned and fall short of the glry of God. the bibile also says that our righteousness is a s menstrual rags (yes, the original term is menstraul rags.)
However, many Christians seem to believe that since they have recieved salvation through believeing in Jesus, that they have achieved some high honor. But the fact is, this gift is offered to everybody, no matter how good you are.
Jesus himself often rebuked religious people for their self-righteous behavior. So if you ever get any of tht again rom a christian, be confident in the fact that they are not living the way their bible tells them too, and you have been given the authority from jesus himself to point that out to them.

Not all Christians think atheists are bad. You are correct when you say that no man is without sin, however, God sent his son to die for our salvation so that sin could be forgiven. You may have a conscience and be a moral person but do you live according to Gods standards, because they are the ones that we are judged by. I don't think atheists are bad, I just feel bad for them because they will not have eternal life. Only if people accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour will they be saved.

They're just not paying attention. Christians make up about 75% of the US population and 75% of the US prison population. Atheists make up about 10% of the US population... but they only make up 0.2% of the US prison population. That means that an atheist is 50 TIMES LESS likely to be incarcerated than a Christian. Pretty strange, for a group that has no god-given guiding moral principals, huh?
I can think of two possibilities that might reasonably account for this disparity:
1. Atheists of a higher ethical and moral caliber than Christians, and thus do not do the same kinds of nasty things that land so many Christians in jail; or,
2. Atheists are, overall, a lot smarter than Christians and thus, they are less likely to get caught in the course of their transgressions.
Take your pick.

I was discussing with a believer about a guy at work I truly hate, and she said 'why don't you just kill him? you're an atheist anyway'? So I asked 'are you telling me that the only thing holding you back from murdering people is your fear of hell'? To which she snidely replied 'yes'. How sickening. I don't actually believe her, and I'm sure she doesn't either. But I doubt that will stop her from asking the same stupid question again at some point.

If you think you are a good person in Gods eyes your wrong. For God said that our good works are as filthy rags to him, including myself here. Have you ever broken one of the ten commandments, yes, so have I, SO HAS EVERYONE. We don`t think we are better than you. We have just accepted Gods forgiveness, that`s what makes us different. We are forgiven for our sins against God when we trusted in his son Jesus. The ten commandments were put there so you could see your shortcomings from the Lords perspective, like looking into a mirror at yourself, realizing how dirty you are. They are not there to judge you, nor do I judge you, lest I be judged. Maybe you are a good person in the worlds veiw, but in Gods eyes, we are all sick and dying needing his forgiveness. It`s free, take it. I know he has been speaking to your heart, give it to him brother. Real Christians don`t think as you said ," you are so bad." For your information though, and I am a true follower of Yeshua, Jesus, More than half the Christians are false converts, they are goats , NOT SHEEP. Jesus said he will seperate the goats from the sheep. Maybe you have been encountering alot of goats, false converts in the Church. I for one don`t think I am better than you or anyone else, saved or not. If I am better, it is not of my doing, but of Christ who lives in me, all the glory belongs to him. God bless you in your seeking the truth, THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE DOING, EVEN IF YOU DON`T KNOW IT YET, KEEP LOOKING,YOU`LL FIND IT.

Christians, like other religions, think they have the monopoly on tickets to "heaven". You can't blame the brainwashed fanatics as their Bilbe, a flawed, man-made book, clearly states that Jesus is the only way to the father. So, if you are not a devout follower of their cult....you're screwed.

It doesn't mean your bad because your not christian or dont pray...Many Christians I think are the crazy ones ...Well the one's who are extreme Christian's and preach to everyone that they are going to hell if they don't do this or that...
President Bush considers himself a good Christain yet he is a liar and used to be an Alcoholic. He thinks people who are athiest/agnostic should not citizens. >.< He makes me so angry Bush... I can not stand him at all.
Anyway, I believe just aslong as your a decent person with morals and values ect. you are a good person ...Religion does not make anyone any better of a person...Many people that do go to church and believe god actually go to jail and steal ect.

Someone asked a similar question before and part of my answer was that Atheists are not necessarily immoral just because they do not believe in God. They are guided by their conscience which is God's law written on their hearts. You have just proved my point. You follow your conscience without believing in the God who gave it to you.
