Number two of the Satanic rules for Earth is:

"Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them."

Isn't that a bad rule to live by? Hasn't it been proven that keeping our emotions and "troubles" to ourselves is bad for our mental health? If you are getting depressed and have to talk to someone, wouldn't it be a good idea just to talk to someone and not worry about if that person is sure they want to hear what you have to say or not?

No. Do you want to be burdened by other peoples problems all the time? I'm sure you don't. It is definitely NOT a bad rule to live by. I would never burden someone with my troubles until I am sure they want me to open up to them. But I can always find someone to talk to that wants to listen when I need it.

I'm not a Satanist, LaVey or any other kind, but I can't see anything wrong with "Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure THEY WANT TO HEAR THEM." As in, don't burden people who don't want that kind of relationship. Have you ever had somebody pour their heart out to you when you realy weren't interested? That's happened to all of us. Besides, anybody who doesn't care if the person they're unloading on is receptive or not is incredibly self-involved.

actually telling my problems to someone that does not want to hear them is more or less like asking my boss for a raise,,,
i would accomplish just as much trying to beat down a brick wall with my head..

however when i listen to lavey, i tell troubles to people that actaully care about them and i get some positive reinforcement from it.

i am a pagan, but i think that Lavey had a few good ideas.

I think this exists so that you don't become a so-called 'pyschic vampire'. ie using your side of the relationship for your own benefit without giving.

The thing is, people do want to help. This goes back to the arguement that there is no such thing as a selfless act. People will listen to your troubles, because it makes them feel like they are doing a good thing.

Yeah...talking your troubles through with people who care is what humanity is all about. Which is why I wouldn't believe anything LaVey said.

That's a pretty selfish attitude on your part don't you think? Did you ever think that the person that you are going to spill your guts too might have bigger problems of his or her own to worry about?
