I just got a new kitten, and I noticed that she has 2 little bald spots on her face. It's not really in a circular pattern, and its not scaly. I got her from a breeder, she is a purebred and was very expensive. I am wondering if this is ringworm, or if it could be something else. I am going to call tomorrow to make an appointment at the vet to get it checked out, but I am super paranoid about it and just need to know if there is any other reason why a cat would have bald spots.

You're going to really need to bring your cat to a vet because we really can't make a proper diagnosis this way. It could be one of many things, most of which requires medical assistance to treat but here are some examples:

Allergies
Mites or other parasites
Fungal infection
Bacterial infection
Hormonal changes (kind of like acne in humans)

A word on hormonal changes... when my cat was going through cat 'puberty' he would itch and try to scratch the back of his legs... for a while the skin was red and itchy but the vet said it would pass and it did. It was basically as I said, cat acne and he eventually grew out of it... Fortunately for cats and unlike humans, puberty is pretty quick.

Good luck with your kitten.

Whoa- what kind of health guarantee did you get from this breeder? She should not be sending out itchy bald cats into the world. At the least you should call her and tell her what happened with your cat. If she has something going around her cattery she should be fixing it. If she knows what it is and it is nothing serious, she should be able to but your mind at ease. Even if it is not serious she should pay for vet visit. If this cat is really sick, you should get your money back. When you pay what you have to for a purebred cat....
Now you don't mean those little spots up by the eyes that are thin on hair with all cats do you? What breed is this supposed to be and where on the face are the spots?

How sad. Bring her to a vet. Sometimes these expensive pure-bread cats and dogs are raised in "mills" under bad conditions. Disease can run rampant. Hope she's OK.

Wish I knew, never had that with any of my cats. Sorry I can't help, but your vet is the best way to help your cat. Good luck and hope it isn't serious.

If you have a black light go in a dark area - ringworm will glow. Ringworm is highly contagious to animals and people!!! Its a fungu that is easily spread.

It could be funghi. It goes away with a simple treatment. Your vet will tell you.
