A term that defines a range of phenomena, some paranormal, that are reported by many individuals who have come, or believe they have come close to death, or have experienced death and been revived. These individuals most often report having out-of-body experiences, and in some cases have reported biblical type phenomena.

my near death experience is when i got stuck by a staple from opening the package of our dinner that we ordered. i didn't know i got infected until my finger started swelling. it takes two days and it's kind of weird looking at my arms showing my veins is turning colors and darker. i got scared when i have a fever so i decided to go to the emergency. i thought they are going to give me a tetanus shot and be done within an hour. unfortunately, that was not the case, i was admitted cause im on a verge of getting lock jaw so they need to flush the tetanus out of my system. but then again, they have given me a sulfur not knowing im allergic with it. so they have to give me a benadryl to flush the sulfur first out of my system before they can really help me. i stayed in the hospital for 3 days.

For many it could be falling into a deep level of unconscious. Then awaking from this experience.
